Buying a bike in Peru
 

I'm thinking of traveling to peru for about 2 months and would like to buy a small bike ( cheap 250cc). Is it possible to buy one cheaply and quickly in Lima, is there any complicated paperwork or anything?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who as tried this as I cant find anything on the net.

A good local guy to talk to in Lima is Roberto Belmonte at Desert Sport Racing.

He speaks good english and runs a great motorbike shop that had a 98 KLR650 in the showroom (when I was there 3 days ago) as well as a bunch of off road bikes of various sizes. He should be able to fill you in on the details required for buying a bike there.
