Buy in Argentina or have it shipped from the US
 

Hi!

I have a blown rear shock absorber in my 2005 KLR650. I called Kawasaki in Buenos Aires and it cost 1000USD!!!
When I had the same case(!) in Ecuador the price in the store was almost the same, but one bright boy had imported it for me from the US for 700 USD. As far as I know, the price of the part is around 450 USD in the US.

I have heard there is huge import tax here in Argentina (52%). Do you recommend me to buy it online and have it shipped? Any experience? I do not know the shipping cost as well.

Or it would be wiser to ship it to Chile? Would it make any difference?

Thanks for your quick help, I am going from Uyuni to San Pedro de Atacama so I need to take a quick decision, then I will have no opportunity to use internet for a few days.

KTM parts are much cheaper in Chile, maybe Kawi parts too. Check out chilean prices.

If you are on your second rear shock, i would say you need to drop some weight or ride a lot slower off road.
