buy 250cc in lima sell in bogota

Hola,

I used the search but did not find what i was looking for, maybe you can help?

Im looking to buy an older honda 250 here in peru, maybe lima and drive it taking my time to colombia. I want a simple bike easily fixed and difficult to break, thats why id like a small honda.
I want to spend max 500 euro/750 dollar after prepping it a bit (tires, chain, brakes, extra external gas tank?). I bought a cx500 for that money in holland that seems indesctructible so im guessing that it should be a piece of cake to get something here, right?

I would like some tips on the bare mininum of prepping it and wat too look out for when checking the bikes out. Maybe you can also give me advise where too look?
Insurance is covered (i will fake it) and ownership shouldt be a problem right?

Thanks!

Make sure you are careful starting out in Lima. It was the craziest Latin American city to drive in.

a couple of pointers on Colombia...

The importation and sale of used motos into Colombia is prohibited. You would have great difficuly finding a buyer outside of the law. At a purchase price of Euros 500, you could just give it away away though. You may find a traveller to buy it, but once again this is difficult; more so with a dodgy title.

Secondly, with a forged title, how are you going to legalise the temporary import? They will, (probably), want to know where this vehicle entered the country, and why temporary importation wasn't taken care of then.

Thirdly, insurance, (SOAT), is obligatory in Colombia. You have to buy it from the State. The falsification of this document would not be easy. You might get away with not having it. I have in the past.

I think ill just keep the peruvian plates and fake a international insurance.

i havent found one 250 as of yet, hard to find it seems.
