Broken turn signal lens - Will I be hasseled?

Didn´t know where the best place to post this...

The other day, I was forced off the road by a large truck swinging wide around a hairpin and into my lane. To make the long story short, I was concentrating so much on stopping and not being run over or rolling down the 100 foot drop to my right. Thus said, I didn´t compensate for the banking and uphill angle of the road and ended up dropping the bike and breaking the left turn signal lens. Damn it! Yes its minor and figure that its better the bike than me.

Anyway, I just waited peoples opinion if you think I will be hassled or "fined" by police or border officials of Central and South America for having a broken lens. I am going to try a McGyver fix with a lens off a different model/make of bike. But if it doesn´t work might just leave it if I am not going to be hassled by police, etc.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

Just tell them,"no fumar español" and they,ll just wave you straight on!

Glue it back together.

I think you'd only be stopped for that as an excuse to...well, stop you. I was pulled by a Mex Federale and a missing blinker lens was the reason/excuse. I believe it was just because I passed a line of vehicles when he was behind me...dunno.

Should see the state of my bike - what indicator lenses? They don´t care.

Lens

Shouldn't be a problem. For what it's worth, after a similar experience I used some clear packaging tape over my brake light and used a red marker to "paint" the tape. On the turn signal, did the same with an orange marker. Didn't have any problems.

Thanks everyone!

I forgot to mention in the original post that the pavement was hot enough to warp the various pieces of my lens. Thus, I am unable to glue/tape it back together.

ct_miller13, I will probably try your advice on the use of tape.

"Lost" somewhere in Guatemala,

I like the idea posted earlier... just say ¨no fumar español.¨ It means i dont smoke spanish( and even then the verb isnt conjugated). That oughta throw them off and youll be good to go......:scooter:
