I am in Bolivia now getting ready to cross Brazil in early June. I want to cross at San Matias, pass through Cuiaba and then to Brasilia, before heading southeast to Rio.

I just heard some talk that the Brazilian border will not let you cross this section alone. Any truth to this? Everything looks pretty straight forward on the map.

That's complete nonsens. You will have no problems driving that stretch. We were there last year.

Do you think that route is more interesting than going the southern way through Corumba? My intention is to get to Brasilia.

If you plan to ride from Cuiaba to Brasilia you should take some extra care in northern minas gerais. The roads are not very good there. Choosing a route going south on BR-050 and then to Rio could be a better ideia. I live in Minas Gerais state, if you need any help send me an PM.
