Border crossing on Colon, Argentina
 

I crossed the border from Argentina to Uruguay this week at Colon to renew my Temporary Import Permit in Argentina. The border was the quickest and easiest ever! 15 minutes and no lines. After spending the weekend in Colonia Del Sacramento, Uruguay, I crossed back into Argentina at Fray Bentos which was also easy but I was asked for insurance papers. The agent didn't speak english and after a few minutes he let me go without any. Unfortunately, as soon as I exited the crossing the road was blocked by a group protesting polution from a newby papermill so I was stuck for a few hours.

I crossed this border too two months ago. Quick and painless. Uruguayan customs demanded to see my Mercosur-valid insurance, which I, of course, provided as I got it at no extra charge when I bought insurance in Argentina (50 ARS a month, about 13 USD)

Only time I've been asked for insurance papers during my trip.

They stamped my passport for 90 days but my bike got a full year. I left after a couple of weeks anyway.
