Bolivia Rt3 La Paz to St Cruz in February
 

Hi,

I am in La Paz currently and need to be in Santa Cruz Feb 12th. Thinking about visiting Rurrenabaque and driving on Rt3. Apparently there is construction between Yucumo and Trinidad and it's paved from Trinidad. Bike is a DR 650.

Does anybody has an idea about current Road conditions (mud, impact of construction).

Also plan to be in Uyuni around Feb 20th and looking for people to join me for the salt.

Yes the road from La Paz to Trinidad is all doable albeit with road works in places, but don't let that put you off.
Just take care when they spray water on the dust to keep it down, i found it turned into a slippery mess and quite difficult to keep the bike up, so just waited and took a break for 10 mins while it dried then all good to go.

From La Paz go to Coroico really nice small town up a big hill, then you are ready to ride the "road of death" ( not so scary).

The route has some great mountain views and a river crossing with bike on a small barge and then pushed across the river.

Trinidad is OK and the road then down south to Santa Cruz is a good ride.

Hi there, sorry cant tell you much about the road conditions near Trinidad, as I have not been there in last three years. But if you come through Samaipata (120km from Santa Cruz) I would invite you for a beer, just ask at the local bar La Boheme for mika ... enjoy Bolivia. mikabier
