Bolivia borders closing

Truckers protesting some tax issue will close borders tomorrow Monday, mayor roads as well, got up at 3AM today to make run for border
Few hours left for those who see this
BTW Bolivian strikes and road closures are ferocious,no one gets by, not easily and may last for ages

They may be ferocious, but to say non one gets by does the Bolivians a disservice.

They confine their protest to the object of their dissatisfaction. By careful scrutiny and conversation it is possible to pass. They recognise foreign travellers and welcome them.

Of course, YMMV :-)

Thanks for your fact based contribution Bruce. When I was there recently I did what all the other local cars and buses did: find an alternative route around any blockage. Very easy: I followed the cars and buses!

Can the OP explain why he changed his registered location from Chile to Bolivia shortly before writing this post?

Bruce I wrote easily.....depends on your wheels perhaps, was with border police, customs chaps and drug police and just listened to them
OP finds Chris childish
reminds Chris that OP's posts need not be read by him

Any particular reason why I shouldn't read stuff on a public Internet forum Charlie?

If I dressed in white would I get through Bolivian blockades easier?

Regarding strikes. When time came to quit La Paz, Bolivia and head to Peru, the main highway from the valley to the hills above was closed by a farmer strike. Once I managed to get to the top of the highway the blockade was clear. A Bolivian women sitting were sitting in a line from one side to the other of the road. Taxis were depositing passengers at the blockade and turning around. The passengers were walk thru a large swath to the other side of the strike. After a quick survey I made my move, slowly riding along with the pedestrians. No one gave me permission and more important, no one stopped me. Why? I'm not part of their fight.

The day my friend Takahiro and I took a day trip from La Paz to the 'death road of Bolivia' there were supposed to be strikes. We didn't encounter any strikers or road blocks. Sometimes its more hype than reality. doh

A few months earlier I encountered 5 road blocks in Brazil in one day. Each time I pulled up, took off my helmet, smiled, shrugged my shoulders, smiled and eventually someone allowed me through. As I rode through the trucks that were criss-crossing the road, I raised my clenched fist in solidarity.

You might have more problems if you are part of a commercial tour.
