BMW Mechanic in Brazilia \Rio\Salvador(+ difference betrween

Does anybody know of a good BMW ( ´88 R100GS) mechanic in or between between the above cities in Brazil?

Also does anybody know the difference between gasoline comum and Additiva? We have had vareity of reasons given i.e. one has alcohol in it and the other does not, both have alcohol in but one one cleans the engine..etc...etc..

Cheers

all types of gasolina in Brasil have alcohol. This is enforced by law (see portugues text...), and must be bewteen 20 - 25%.
Yes the aditivada is surprise surprise just am additive in the same fuel (the 'comum aditivada' has a colourant as well to distinguish it from 'comum'. The premium aditivada has no colourant..).
But it sure helps to keep carburator/injectors a lot cleaner (and maybe even help preventing the (valve)rubbers from drying out what happens with normal fuel in Brasil.

dude....dont put common gas in your tank. the jets on your carb are way too small to handle that oatmeal. i traveled there with a klr 650 and stripped the carb twice to clean it. later i found out that i shudda been using additiva instead. its expensive....but my bike ran soooooooooo much better.

B.t.w. did you find the BMW mechanic?
If not and you are going further south you can drop in here if you like (Bombinhas, near Florianopolis. Will be home from Oct25;drop me a line if interested at landcruisertours@yahoo.com ). In my former life I was a japanese bike mechanic, but am sure I can manage your R100GS too..
