Bike rental in Santiago Chile

I am flying into Santiago Chile on the 1st of January with my wife and another couple. We are trying to rent bikes like a F650 GS or a KTM Adventure 950 as we want to ride 2 up. We will need the bikes for 2 weeks . The KTM folks in Chillan have plenty of 640's but they are too small seat wise for two up .

Hi Veesquared: The following site has bikes for rent www.motoaventura.cl speak or mail Sonia or Roberto. I have plans to attend the HU meeting at Viedma on December and then ride to Ushuaia and back to Santiago after New Year, but I need a buddy to lend him my spare Yamaha Super Tenere XTZ750 (I have another one different year same make) in exchange for my gas and lodging expenses. If anyone is looking for company with local expertise and willing to share the fun of adventuring in motorcycle, camping and taking photographs, get in touch with me. I am retired and have a lot of time to be of help for fellow adventure riders.

Be carefull with KTM-Santiago!

Last year I used their service and it was ^%$^%## (not good!)
They do not speak english, so I spent lot of money talking by mobile phone to guys in USA from www.admotours.com who sent me to this KTM ofice.
Then after we took bikes (They were 640, but I suppose there were 950 as well) we made 30 km and had a problem with tire. The voice in the phone ansvered that everybody are to busy to help us now (TO BUSY TO HELP THEIR 8 CUSTOMERS!!!). OK it's not a big problem to fix a tire so we did it ourself.
Then after 100 more km the chain on one bike broke down (it was out of order from the first time - guys in the workshop told us that and showed demaged part), in the phone nobody spoke English, but after we called USA they suddenly remembered this language and told us that they can help us the day after tomorrow (bad idea for people spent lot of money for 2 week trip) or we can help ourself - they will return us money for this repearing. We did it ourself ofcourse and moved further, ufter 300 km the same bike was broke down again! This time chain brokes tranny case, so we called to Santiago to ask them to take this bike back, the answer was : "you mast deliver the bike to office in Santiago!!!!" We called to USA again and finaly left that bike in La Serena were it was broken, then they even returned us money for that bike, but I had to learn lot of bad words in Spanish that time and we left 2 days for nothing. By the way read the contract very cearfull, if it's in Spanish and you don't understand it ask somebody to help you with translating.
We were realy stupid and trusted them by word - after 5 days we met the guy, speaking Spanish who told us that following this paper we have no inshurence, no service and nothing at all. So it was hard to fight with them!
By the way, nobody didn't return money for the chain repairing :)
Good luck!
Dmitry
