Availability of airhead spares?
 

I'm heading south in a few weeks and am stocking up on the basic maintenance stuff. What can I expect for availability of basic maintenance items like oil filters and air filters for airhead beemers (R80ST and two R100GSPDs) at Central and South American beemer dealerships or other shops? These bikes haven't been made for near 14 years now, but the basics are still plentiful and easy to find in the US. Is that the case down south as well?

We traveled down that route in '07 -'08 on two R100GSs and an R100R. The BMW dealers usually had what few parts we needed.

We carried lots of parts, just because of the interchangability.

We had occasional visitors from the States that would bring miscellaneous stuff if we knew we would need it. oil filters, light bulbs, etc..

We had K&N air filters.

I would expect to pay list(U.S.) plus 20% or so, at the dealerships.

One transmission failure required a month in Dakar Motos and some machine shop fabbed gears.
