any biker travelling in bolivia?
 

Hi we are just in cusco.want to rent a moto in la paz from 10.04 to 28.04.02.Would be fun to ride together some roads.to salar de uyuni, lagunas and others.Who is in the area.We rent a enduro,any special tipps for that?Any info about the salar,roadcondition to the salar,weather at the moment?

Howdy -

I'm currently in Uyuni, although without my F650 which is waiting patiently for me back in Tupiza. I've just done a 4 day 4WD tour which included the Salar, and that was just wicked. I wimped out of taking my bike through there, as without GPS and extensive local knowledge you would be hard pushed to see the highlights without getting extremely lost....

What I would reccomend is a ride from Uyuni to Isla Pescadores, virtually 1 hour straiht line into the Salar. It would be riding on dry hard salt, so no real problems. If you are worried about Navigation, I would suggest simply to follow one of the 4WD operators out there, as they depart every morning.

Be aware the roads approaching Uyuni are suspension destroyers....
