And the tour of Bolivia begins...

Helloo all! My friend and I just secured two bikes in La Paz and couldn´t be more excited (check out the bikes here, the awesome factory we bought it from in El Alto here, and some close ups of the bikes we bought)! Also, got all the permits and papers sorted out so we´re good to go. We just bought a map and here´s the route we´re considering starting tomorrow, it'll be a large clockwise loop through Bolivia starting in La Paz:

- La Paz
- Coroico, Arapata, Coripata, Caranavi
- Rurrenabaque (visit Madidi, worth it?)
- Trinidad, Concepcion, Santa Cruz
- Samaipata, Postrevalle, Tarabuco, Vallegrande
- Sucre, Potosi, Potolo Valley
- Lagunas in Parque Eduardo Avaroa
- Uyuni, Oruro, Cochabamba
- La Paz

We're budgeting 3-4 weeks to do all of this. You´ve all given some fantastic feedback on previous posts that I've used to put part of this route together. Would love to get some general advice on this route, things not to miss along the way, any hidden gems worth detouring for, that sorta thing! :thumbup1:

BTW - I think we found a loophole in the system to avoid having to wait 2-3 weeks for plates to arrive for a new Bolivian bike. We had to visit the Transit Police office to ask for a permiso for 30 days until the plates arrive, and it only cost us 300Bs for their hard work (read: bribe). Will be sure to post more about this in our ride report when we´re done!

Note: we have a GPS unit with OpenStreetMaps for all of South America loaded (I know, not the best but the Garmin map wouldn't load for some reason - strange right?). Thanks all! -Kevin :scooter:

Locktite City!

I have the EXACT same bike (here in Haiti) under the name SUKIDA. Before you go take EVERYTHING off of the frame and put it back together with locktite thread locker or you will lose half of it along the way!

Ignore this and BEWARE!! :funmeteryes: :nono:
