Very sad. I would like to think he died enjoying the trip to the maximum. You never know if or when such things will happen and you can't mitigate against them.

Hi,
As I understand it, Adrian´s body will be cremated in Brazil but I don´t know where and when. I´m planning to attend, I had the chance to speak with him a few times and exchange several emails and invited him to come over to Ilhabela for a few days but it didn´t work out (I was away when he was closeby). I would be thankful for any news regarding his cremation as I need to plan my trip in order to be present. |

That's very sad news.
I didn't know him but he lives on in the memory of the HU community. I for one am going to read his blog so I can remember him and say I knew of Kemis Charles. Lets raise our glasses. xXx |
Oh my God, that's terrible news and so very sad... http://s3.amazonaws.com/advrider/bncry.gif
I met Adrian at Dakar Motos in Buenos Aires where he started his journey and had a great time with him. He was such a nice, enthusiastic and open young guy. My condolences to his family and friends - my thoughts are with you. Rest in peace, Adrian, hope you ride on wherever you are... http://possu.smugmug.com/Travel/Sout...87_wyykA-M.jpg http://possu.smugmug.com/Travel/Sout...62_c8H8A-M.jpg http://possu.smugmug.com/Travel/Sout...92_qj6sG-M.jpg http://possu.smugmug.com/Travel/Sout...05_yVKYw-M.jpg http://possu.smugmug.com/Travel/Sout...10_R323z-M.jpg Ela |

It is true that the loss of one diminishes us all, but in the same way may our collective admiration for Adrian's courage and achievements as well as our heart felt sympathy for his loved ones give them strength in the difficult days ahead.

I'm sure from everyone in Australia, around the world and in the biking community we all feel sad about this loss and give our condolences to his family. Hopefully people close to him can find some solace knowing he died doing what he loved and trying to change the world. Like many in this thread have said, he was doing what he loved and living the dream. Hopefully he will continue...
RIP mate. |
Saddened to hear of Adrian's death, I heard the news via text message from Pumpy (my partner, in Peru at present) earlier today.
Never met Adrian but from reading his 'blog and the photos posted by Pumpy, it looked like he was certainly enjoying himself and living life to the full. I've posted links to this thread in the Latin American & Australian forums over on Advrider in case there's anyone else able to help out or who may have known Adrian back home in Australia. :frown: |
Yes, unfortunately Adrian is the second Aussie rider to lose his life in South America in just over 6 months.
Simon Buckley died on Ruta 40 in Argentina in March. I knew Simon and had given him some tips before he set off from Oz last year. The best that can be said is that they died enjoying what they were doing with their lives. :( Melbourne motorbike rider Simon Buckley, 32, dies on fundraising trip | News.com.au |
That's such sad news on both counts. Sincerest condolences to Adrian & Simon's friend's and family.
RIP Adrian & Simon |

First of all we want to send our condolence to Adrian’s family for their lost.
We meet Adrian when he starts his journey, less than 2 month ago, young and full of plans for his journey and his life….. It’s hard for us….not only about Adrian….every year we meet travellers starting their trips, or they are thinking on the next stage, or we are in contact with them to meet each other at the end. Every year we miss some of them, they never come back, they will never come back to us, to their families, to their friends, to the rest of their life. I know that travel around the world is their dream, your dream, even our dream some day we hope, but….Adrian as the rest of the travelers who die during his journey have for sure a biggest dream, be alive to keep travelling and dreaming. Apologize if our thought are hard and different to yours………we only want to ask you to take care, to don’t take stupid risk, to ride safe to keep dreaming….because is not only about you, is about the people who loves you also. There is always someone waiting for you, loving you, someone who will miss you a lot. And because we think there is no dream that worth a life lost………………. Sandra & Javier… |
