A Friend In SA

Recently I was in a spot of bureaucratic bother concerning my bike overstaying in Brazil by 4 years !

I was at risk of losing my motorcycle and paying a very high penalty.

I found Rodolfo on HU contacted him directly and within the hour he was assisting me with my issue.

Anyone who has done this kind of travel before knows that a local friend is an invaluable source, but Rodolfo is much more than that, he knows the legal and customs system with regard to vehicles very well.

I'm very accustomed to dealing with police, immigration and customs officers, but it always helps to have someone confirm, verify and generally point you in the right direction.

Rodolfo was ready to assist me over the phone if I needed it whilst talking with officials in case it became too much for me to handle.

As I slalomed through customs offices and negotiated each bureaucratic step, having Rodolfo in my pocket gave me another level of confidence to deal with the situation.

Not only that, Rodolfo called me on a regular basis to check the process was moving along and that I was still on top of the situation. This level of concern is something you seldom get even when you are paying for assistance. Rodolfo wasn't asking to get paid, he was just helping me out!

Rodolfo is also located at a kind of south american crossroads at Foz Iguassu where Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil meet, which means he most certainly knows the legalities regarding vehicles in all those countries, but is probably more expert with Brazil.

So by way as a thank you and reference for anyone else needing help with issues regarding Brazil vehicle customs, please find Rodolfo and his hostel here:

I hope to be driving his way very soon. :)

What's the deal? Ofcourse it is very kind and helpful of Rodolfo but you do not need bothering him at all. l Just leave Brazil through Iguazu ( as well as many other brazilian borders), either to Argentina or Paraguay. you won't even be stopped by the receita federal (customs). On sundays and holidays even better as they don't work at all.
You have it more difficult when you dó need customs as you really have to search for them.

You're right, Marker. The vast majority of travelers won't need to trouble Rod for any sort of help at all. However, those travelers should still consider staying at his hostel. See previous post for info.

I believe what the original post was stating is that Rodolfo is a useful resource, and happy to assist, IF you do need any help with customs. For instance:

But yeah, unless you need to enlist Rod's services, just go and enjoy meeting him. You won't regret it!
