Safe biking travelinformation

Hey all,
some years ago I did a big bike trip through South East Asia. I am planning to buy a bike in Columbia and to do a little road trip through Columbia, Ecuador and Peru. I don't know much about the situation right now. It's why I have some questions:
Is it easy to buy a motorbike?
Can I easily sell it in Peru?
How strict is the police with papers?
What papers should I have?
Can I easily cross borders?
Are there regions where I should not go?
Thanks in advance or your help!
Greetings
Thomas

Is it easy to buy a motorbike?
* Yes

Can I easily sell it in Peru?
* No, it can't be sold outside Colombia

How strict is the police with papers?
* Very. They can take the bike if you are missing papers

What papers should I have?
* All papers you have regarding the bike

Can I easily cross borders?
* Yes.

Are there regions where I should not go?
* Yes. But I will not try to list. I do not have all information. And it is not black and white. Check recommendations about the areas you plan to visit.
Peru is not possible to predict at the moment. Things change from day to day.
You can get some idea from maps like this
PROVIAS NACIONAL - SGCV - Visor de Emergencias Viales
But.... there is a lot not shown on this map.
And you do not know how it will look tomorrow.
Even if it not is dangerous, it creates a lot of problems......
(I was there)

These pictures shows the police in Bogota + bikes loaded on a truck to be taken away to......
You do not want to end up in that situation...

safe journey

The motos on the flat bed tow truck are a familiar sight in Colombia
it happened twice to me Pico Placa once and parking in a no parking zone on the the street that had no markings
The transit police snared me because of the Bavarian Badge I figure.
I was not the only one parked on this side street
When they take you moto away you will have to go thru a demoralizing ordeal that can take one or two days of confusion before you get your moto back after you pay a 110 dollar fine
