US Trip
 

My wife and I are coming from New Zealand to San Francisco May 2nd 2020.
We intend to by motorcycle's in SF and travel for 6 months in US and Canada.
Would like advice on how to get the transfer of ownership and I believe new plates. Is it easier to buy private or from a dealer. Do we just go to a post office with the Pink slip and get the new plates, how do I get an address in the States, is it needed, who is the best Insurance company. Any other advise would great.

Take a look through the trip paperwork section where all of your questions are covered, you will need an address in CA to register in your name and you will need to visit a DMV, department of motor vehicles office to do it, bring sandwiches and a flask of tea they are usually busy.
There are a few threads on US insurance but I think the only company that will insure foreign licence holders is Progressive, when I used them there was a drop down menu where you clicked foreign licence and put your details in, you will need insurance before you can register in your name and again an address to insure.
