Prices relate to 2 people 1 motorcycle, April 2018 TANGIER Pension Dar Omar Khayam 41€ with breakfast (booked through Booking) N35° 46' 44.8" W5° 48' 18.3" Rue Antaki, when on the large beach avenue (Mohammed VI) out of the port, take a right up when you see Marco Polo hotel. Old style pension with en suite little rooms and a lovely courtyard. Wifi. Bike parked on a little patio with a gate. Tip for the gardien. 100m up on the corner there’s a popular restaurant, Romeo, where you can eat extraordinary grilled fish. TANGIER Hôtel de Paris 320MAD with breakfast N35° 46' 48.6" W5° 48' 36.8" On Boulevard Pasteur. Ideal if you want to be near the center but not in the medina. A classic, central 1929 small hotel. Large rooms with bathroom. Friendly staff. The rooms on the street side can be noisy, lots of traffic on a saturday night! There’s an underground park (30mad) not far, next to the Rembrandt Hotel. Look for Bashir restaurant, another popular and cheap place full of moroccan families, 2 streets away on the back of the hotel. CHEFCHAOUEN Dar Bleu Pearl 225MAD + 50MAD for breakfast N35° 10' 06.6" W5° 15' 51.7" Cheap option in the medina. Very good location with very nice staff, small rooms (our with bathroom, great shower). Nice Breakfast on the roof with medina views. Wifi. Parked the moto outside the medina in a underground, near Hotel Madrid. (2MAD / hour). But the next day I rode the bike into the medina to pack the bags FEZ Hotel Batha 525MAD with breakfast N34° 03' 37.2" W4° 58' 55.1" Confortable option in Fez, right next to Batha Museum, near Bab Boujloud, main access to the medina. ZAOUIAT CHEIKH Hotel Ennajah 150MAD N32° 38' 36.1" W5° 54' 55.8" The only place we slept in our sleeping bags on a bed! An option when it’s raining at night and you are tired and starving… it’s a roadside restaurant where you can also sleep upstairs. My gf still talks to me, even though she got sick eating a tagine there. Shared bathroom. No hot water, no shower that day MARRAKECH Riad le Marrocain 390MAD with breakfast N31° 37' 02.1" W7° 58' 52.4” A 10 min walk south of Jemaa el Fna, near the Berrima mosque. El Badi Palace not far. Simple quiet place with wifi and en-suite rooms. There’s a walled, guarded, park nearby. The maps.me/osm waypoint is wrong, possible to ride up to the door. If in the same area, next time I will try Dar Loula DEMNATE Hotel Marrakech 200MAD N31° 43' 58.4" W7° 00' 17.5" The only place we could find in town. Simple, basic, but very clean little place. Shared bathroom. The owner has a garage next to the hotel, he didn’t charge anything for the bike. ZOUWEIAT AHANSAL Dar Ahansal 560MAD hb N31° 50' 47.2" W6° 06' 46.3" “Lovely place with exceptional attention to detail inside and out” It’s just like Chris Scott wrote, a lovely place with great food, and great shower in a beautiful en-suite room. One of the best stay oa the all trip. Wifi only works in the reception / dinner and breakfast area. Very nice staff, no “suspicion atmosphere”, just a noisy big groups of spaniards spoiling the peaceful atmosphere. There’s a new place right next to it: Kasbah Amezay TAROUDANT Camping Le Jardin 60MAD N30° 28' 37.2" W8° 50' 38.5" Quiet walled camping, with not that many shady spots. Very clean toilets, wifi near the reception. 4km from city center. TAFRAOUTE Camping Tazka 51MAD N29° 42' 55.2" W8° 59' 10.6" Again, not many shady spots, with a wall around. There are 2 other campings, closer to town. We chose this one because there were less RV’s. Wifi near the reception, there’s a little bar / resto. ICHT Borj Biramane 330MAD (600MAD hb) N29° 03' 33.0" W8° 51' 07.3" French run place, kind of a compound with various accommodation options: camping, berber tents, en-suite rooms, shared bathroom rooms (this one was our coice, too windy for camping that night, a spacious mud brick style small house) Very nice dinner (and wine!), breakfast, and a very clean place. Wifi. TATA Camping Hayat 50MAD N29° 44' 18.7" W7° 58' 39.8" Nice camping place on the other side of the river, with shady areas, wifi, clean toilets, a little bar/restaurant where you can order meals. You don’t feel like you are in a square with walls around like the Camping Municipal in town, a concrete small cube. Nice views of the river. OUARZAZATE Hotel Palmeraie 310MAD N30° 55' 31.2" W6° 54' 36.2” Old style hotel with park. The clean en-suite clean rooms are in rows of 1 storey houses within a garden like space. We didn’t take breakfast but there’s a vintage decorated bar where you can drink beer. Wifi works in the rooms. TIMIDARTE Kasbah Timidarte 500MAD hb N30° 40' 57.3" W6° 17' 54.6" Japan meets nordic meets moroccan adobe minimal and frugal style Kasbah. Beautiful experience! Very nice staff, en-suite simple room, delicious dinner, nice breakfast in a flowery patio, beautiful sunset on the terrace! This place is in a half ruined Kasbah, where you can walk around and explore right in an oasis in the Draa, where you can stroll without kids asking you for money, or people hassling. Just walk around and observe people just doing what they do. Wifi. Bike parked in. N’KOB Camping Ouadjou 200MAD N30° 52' 05.5" W5° 52' 05.5” A walled space, nothing special. We slept in a berber tent, a very pricey one! BOU THARAR (valley of roses) Kasbah Chems 400MAD hb N31° 23' 00.7" W6° 07' 55.0” Own by a half belgium half moroccan couple, it’s a lovely place! Small but lovely en-suite rooms, with views on the valley. A nice closed large balcony for meals also with a view. Good dinner and breakfast. Very nice staff. They organize trekking routes and the guide was very helpful, giving us informations on the MH19 piste conditions. MSEMRIR Hotel Agdal 220MAD with breakfast N31° 41' 44.2" W5° 49' 10.1" Nice place. Simple, basic, but clean. There are rooms en-suite or with shared bathroom. Same price. The owner has a garage in the some building, he didn’t charge anything for the bike. There’s a good restaurant next to it, owned by a helpful guy, who also owns the auberge La Valle des Nomads, on the southwest of Msemrir, which was closed due some construction works. TINGHIR Todra hotel 260MAD N31° 31' 14.7" W5° 31' 53.4” Rough Guide: “Open since 1935, this place has seen better days, and is in need of some TLC.” This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it was one of our favorite places. Like if you’ve been placed in a Paul Bowles novel set, with a vintage ambiance. En-suite large room with the sound of the nearby souk, in a reddish purple retro style hotel room decoration. The lobby has a large old moroccan map painted on the wall, and upstairs there’s an unused dusty bar and a large dinning room all set for a dinner, it looks like since the thirties and that may never happen. We stayed 2 nights. Bike parked in the hotel. ERG CHEBBI Camping Haven le Chance 50MAD (+ 60MAD for breakfast) N31° 08' 03.4" W4° 01' 03.4” You can camp (we did) or stay in rooms. You can use the swimming pool and have dinner (100MAD / person) and breakfast or not. You are next to the dunes. Really. Very nice, relaxed place. No hassle. Nobody asked us if we wanted to ride camels into the sunset, or sleep on dunes camp overnight. There’s no luxury, but for the price of camping, a really and deserved luxury for us. And we walked on the dunes on the sunset. |
Imilchil - Auberge Almou

if you go to Imilchil, go to Auberge Almou, the onwer and manager Hamid is a very nice and helpful guy. Refused to let me pay for tea and coffee I ordered while staying there. Reasonable price. Clean place.
Across the street there is a garage he owns where my bike spends the night. Also, across is a motorcycle mechanic who workes on Chinese, japanese and french bikes but is knowledgeable about stuff. I had some issues on my bmw he was able to help. When you drive to Imilchil drive all the way untill you reach the other end of the village and the hotel will be there on your right hand. |
Here are my recommendations, based on a few weeks' travel in Morocco in 2015. I've checked more recent (2019) reviews of the same places on TripAdvisor, and there are no reports of ownership changes or things getting worse.
I prefer to stay in 'better' hotels (not necessarily 5 star, but just 'nice'), and the selection below reflects that preference. Kenitra - Hotel Mamora - a nice hotel in the center of the town. Clean and quiet. An Art Deco property from the 1940s, the lobby, cocktail bar, and Lido area are almost historical - one might expect to see Bogart & Bacall walking in for cocktails in the evening. I parked on the street in front, with no worries about security. Zagora - Le Sauvage Noble - This is a delightful boutique hotel with phenomenal service - coffee, tea, and mineral waters (still & sparkling) are free at all times. Meals are excellent. The owner is very active in managing the property and is present every day. The property is newly constructed in the traditional manner, with large gardens, a tent, indoor atrium, and plunge pool area. It is located about 4 km north of the town of Zagora in a very quiet residential area. Secure parking for motorcycles is provided. The staff speak English, French, and German. This is the kind of place that you want to spend quite a few days at, rather than just one night. Errachidia - Hotel Le Riad - This hotel consists of 30 suites. It is modern, spacious, and well maintained. There is a big swimming pool in the middle of the complex, great after a hot day. Wi-Fi is very fast (10 mb bandwidth!) and free. Rooms are large and nicely furnished. Very good security for your motorcycle. Extraordinarily quiet environment. Chefchaouen - Hotel Al Khalifa - This is a 2 star hotel, nothing fancy, but it is excellent in all respects. Very modern (likely constructed within the past few years), extremely clean, comfortable beds, good heating and air conditioning, and fast and free Wi-FI. The hotel does not have a restaurant or a bar, but coffee is available and a very nice continental breakfast (with fresh squeezed orange juice!) is served in the morning. The staff are very gracious and helpful, and everyone speaks English well. Regards, Michael |
Chefchaouen hotel Dar Dahlia
Small hotel walking distance to medina. A guy will watch your bike and probably cars too outside the hotel for 20 dirhams per day.

Riad malak - fez
If you are in Fez, I will recommend you “Riad Malak” in Fes was easily our favorite riad among the ones we stayed in while visiting Morocco! Our room was bigger than most of the ones we saw at our price point in Morocco, and had the added bonus of air conditioning–after finishing our 3 day/2 night tour into the Sahara, that was a very welcome change of pace! :mchappy:
And the best thing for me is that Free WIFI is available in this place.:thumbup1: |

Todra (Todgha) Gorges - excellent base to explore the gorges and kasbah

Maison La Belle Etoile
100 Les Gorges de Todgha Road Gorges de Todra, Tinerhir 45800 Morocco didn't intend to stay here, but met some Croatian motorcyclists in a cafe in Tinghir who were staying here and we took their recommendation to stay here as well. I'm glad we did, and we ended up staying here a second day because we loved the area and hotel so much. Our room looked out over the lush green gardens the villagers are tending next to the river, and there is a commanding view from the terrace of this little river valley tucked away in the folds of the mountains before the entrance to the Todra Gorges. It is not a "luxury" hotel as one finds in Marrakesh or Fez, etc., but then that is definitely not what we wanted. Instead, we had a cozy, charming, family-owned guesthouse practically to ourselves and kind hosts in a beautiful setting. We couldn't have asked for more. The two brothers who run La Belle Etoile were genuinely warm and hospitable, willing to do whatever they could to make sure we were happy, and they charged us a fair rate. They waived cost of tea and coffee and stuff like that, they considered us guests in their home. They also advised us on where to eat to be sure that we weren't going to be overcharged. We found La Belle Etoile to be an ideal staging spot for not only exploring the twisting roads and soaring cliffs of the gorges, but also to wander the semi-abandoned kasbah on the other side of the river or trek the mountains around the valley. We met a German man arriving to the kasbah after a long hike and recommended the auberge to him as well. He ended up staying the night on our recommendation as well. We were served an enormous breakfast on the rooftop terrace in the morning and took mint tea, made with fresh mint from the garden, on the balcony overlooking the road. Also, the water here is wood-fired. This may have been the hottest shower I've ever had in Morocco. We (and the Croatians) were able to securely store our bikes in a locked garage three houses down overnight. for pics and more comments you can check trip adv profile |
https://www.booking.com/hotel/ma/el-andalous.html Hotel El Andalous in Hermitage area [of Marrakech] (10 mins walk from main square) isnt bad but get a room on higher floors to avoid noise from evening "traditional entertainment" in the bar (sounds like Helwan province when the Paras are out playing). Carpark is guarded.
Its reasonable, not brilliant. Handy access for town. |
New hotel has opened at Tanger Med Port, could be useful for late night arrivals or early departures

2016 - Merzouga
Nice hotel at the far end in Merzouga, can't remember the name but it's the last one on the right, before the Dunes.. Cheap rates Nice swimming pool, even if it was too cold in December Good Tajin Direct access / View to the Dunes Safe for bikes Friendly staff Fresh beers! |
December 2019
Chefchaouen - Tried staying at Al Khalifa, but it was fully booked. So I ended up staying at Hotel Loubar. I suppose it can be a decent hotel during peak season, but I did not enjoy my stay at all winter time. Expensive (400 MAD) and limited hot water and poor internet connection. Main gate is locked at night, so bike is safe inside. Ain Leuh - Hotel Ain Leuh: I only ended up staying in this town out of desperation, as snow had closed all roads to Midelt and it was getting late. Hotel was nothing special, but for 200 MAD you get a room, breakfast, and bike parking inside their gates. Individual hot water boilers in rooms, which was nice. Clean rooms (including showers) and friendly service! Midelt - Ksar Timnay: I guess this is a usual overlander spot. 390 MAD got me a good size room, built-in hotwater radiators for heat, and breakfast included. Menu otherwise is really expensive (80+ MAD per meal) compared to the rest of the country. Gates are locked overnight. Tamtetoucht (near Les Gorges du Todra) - Auberge Baddou (300MAD): Managed to haggle the price down from 500MAD/night (with breakfast). Nice auberge with a pool and clean facilities. It looks relatively new. Gates are locked up each night, so bikes are safe. Would definitely recommend for 300MAD. Alnif - Hotel Palmiers (200MAD): As is the case with most hotels outside of major cities during low season in Morocco, lights and heating is turned off and you'll most likely find yourself to be the only guest. Clean rooms with great breakfast. Bike is safe inside the locked parking lot. Fes - Hotel Royal Urban Concept (324MAD): Brand new hotel with all the modern amenities. Sparkling clean rooms and a solid breakfast. No parking on premises. I paid 20MAD for a guy outside to watch the bike overnight. |

Nov2019 Maroc-Maur-Senegal Trip R.E. Himalayan
Selouane, Taourirt Boucetta. Chambre Yasmin...Ferry from Motril-Nador (great way to cross) late arriving so I'd booked this room in Mohammed's house online. Clean, attached toilet. expensive at 30€ but the family was friendly and I needed an easy place. Figuig. Hotel El Malyas, cheap because hotel under renovation. Basic, bucket water in toilet/shower down the hall. Rough. Bouarfa. Hotel El Ain Zerga, Very friendly lady boss gave me free tea and msemn, just cos she was nice. Clean, cheap, toilet in hallway. Nice. Er Rich. Hotel Isli.Because my favourite hotel was getting fixed up. Cheap. Inside bog. So-so. Alnif hotel La Gazelle du Sud. Clean, busy caff on ground floor w everyone watching the football. Room smart as new-ish but not well cleaned. Ouarzazate Hotel Amsterdam. Smart, modern, friendly, with use of next door garage for the bike. Big town hotel not my usual cheapo but I'd had three nights camping so it was good. 250dh bnb. Taluouine. Hotel Kasba. 40dh, smelt of mutton, a primitive small box to sleep in but attached caff friendly and guy gave me fresh starched sheers to protect me from the rest of the bed. Tafraoute. Hotel Tifaouine, v nice stylish place. I haggled a good price. The room was freezing but had a clever aircon which refigerated the outdoors to heat the room, which worked fine. Attached posh toilet drains smelled and flushing and stuffing orifices with wet bogpaper failed to contain smell. Posh, good value. Bike in courtyard overnight. Sidi Ifni. Hotel Bellevue. Ok. Good value. Nice breakfast. Clean and quiet and no yoof backpackers. El Ouatia or Tan-Tan plage. Hotel Marin, grubby dive, smelly. Tarfaya. Hotel Casamar clean, new very empty and a local acquired me a room for 50dh. Characterless but friendly enough. Boujdour. Hotel Taiba 150dh, ok, clean. Smartass kid demanded money for having looked after my bike all night which he hadn't so I told him to ram it. Dakhla. Hotel Erraha, huge suite for 200dh but awful banging noise for ages as work ongoing next door. Clean and empty. Bike in garage overnight. Bir Gandouz Hotel Petrol Station, not the nice looking one everyone else goes to. It was ok, cheap. Toilet in hall, real hot water in shower. Down to Senegal and back again. Looked for place just over the border into Maroc. Got bogged down in soft sand then noticed signs warning of LAND MINES...after about an hour managed to get the bike vertical again, by digging mini trenches for the wheels to fall into, then out without any detonations....very happy to get to ... Bir Gandouz Hotel Petrol Station again, late arriving so room grubbier and more expensive, but shower still hot. Dakhla. Hotel Playa Imperial. Excellent, clean and cheap and friendly. Bike on the street nearby but not a rough area. No probs. Boujdour Hotel El Qods. Basic. Nice guy. Spoke some English. 70dh. Shared bog but clean. Tarfaya. Got 50dh room in Hotel Casamar, as before, good place. Guelmim. I liked this town, nice to get back to mountains of Maroc again Hotel El Qods, popular, clean, cheap. 60dh. Imi n tanoute. Hotel Amane another basic cheapo, cold place. Room clean. Good caff under hotel. Friendly. Bike behind bars overnight. 40dh. Mohammedia. Hotel Fedala - what a place, lovely oldy-styly over-the-top with antiques all over the place. big, popular w Moroccans because it's stylish. Friendly reception and very correct snooty waiters. 400dh. Nador Ferry, air mattress on the floor, in my four seasons sleeping bag, no hassle from ferry staff, slept well until Spanish coast in sight at Motril, well rested. There's something to be said for a long slow ferry crossing on a nearly empty ferry. |
Not camping but I’ve twice stayed at Riad Ibn Khaldoun [Fes] and used the nearby staffed car park.
All good. |
Tafraoute
Camping hotel Ameline
It's a bit out of town but has shade, rooms and a pool. Well worth the 30 km to Gorges ait Mansou and a walk to the Pierres Bleus. Cheers B |
El-Ksiba near Kasba Tadia
Lovely little auberge Chez Saadia and Mustafa, over looking the mountains. Dinner bed and Breakfast 400 dhs for 2. Sign at top of littltle track above the town.
Plenty of space for bikes, no big rigs Bruce |
An update regarding Rekkam in Boudnib, it’s still here and Francois and his wife/partner & new baby boy are superb hosts.
We arrived quite late last night after calling 1st (11.30pm ) after a unplanned trip down the Piste de col de Belkasum which caught us off guard and Francois stayed up to great us. Today is an unplanned field repair to the Landy’s manifold and we’ve been given an area to use, served tea and invited to dinner this evening with the only other guests on site. Hot showers, clean toilets and huts to sleep in ( we take comfort when it’s offered! ) Recommended |
Campsites
I can confirm that both campsites in Moulay Bousselham have closed permanently. They’ve been run into the ground over recent years.
Camping Echrigui in Asilah is hanging on. Great location but needs money spending on the sanitaires and a general tidy up. Have given the guardian the phone numbers for Nick Knowles and Charlie Dimmock. Happy trails, Peter |
Chez Ali in Zagora opposite Iriki garage…they work on commission but for 600d including evening meal & breakfast it’s a good room with hit n miss plumbing but still worth it imho.
Riad Soleil bleu Bed & Breakfast in Boulmane Dades Room, dinner & breakfast for 600d. Food was good, room was very good and showers perfect +212 650-499876 https://maps.app.goo.gl/HjWZBB4xbY4XFXi27?g_st=i |
If you're ever passing through Foum Sguid, Hotel Bab Rimal is a nice option.
Amezrou, route de Zagora, Foum Zguid 84500, Morocco +212 661-555369 http://www.babrimal.com/ In April 2022, I paid £48 Bed and Brekfast which was a buffet, so I was able to drink as much coffee as I wanted and load up with fruit for lunch as well. I had ridden all the way from Marrakech so wanted somewhere nice to stay before I headed onto the Lac Iriqi & Erg Chegga pistes. The hotel is made up of mumerous earthen huts and cabins which could probably host 100 people. The owner, Bari has a SWM 250 that he rides the pistes with so has good local knowledge. His brother runs a camp in the Erg and offers a discount for overnight stays if you have a light enough moto to make it through the miles of sand/fesh fesh. The hotel has a large secure car park although, I'm not sure if it guarded but all vehicles are out of sight from the road. Dinner was extra but was probably the best I've had outside Chefchaouen. No beer, probably because it was during Ramadan, also had to wait for the staff to eat first... Lovely large swimming pool, sunrise & sunsets due to the east/west nature of the valley. Hotel was quiet with only a few french tourists staying one night.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6c07cc032f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1e581bd741.jpg Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk |
Contrary to info posted elsewhere. Malika’s campsite at the lake in Imichil is open today.

Have stayed at all these places in the last couple of weeks. The photos of the places on Booking.com etc are very well presented as to be expected, and most places are looking a little tired to say the least! That said they were all pretty clean and did not need to complain about anything. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and most are quite remote. The food was a pleasant surprise and was so cheap! I would happily stay in all of them again, as the hosts were friendly and accommodating.

Hotel Figuig closed and padlocked shut today.
Will have a look at some of the other options after lunch... Hotel by the petrol station in Figuig is even more grim than it used to be. No showers at all so we camped out in the desert. Apparently Hotel Figuig had problems with the local authorities hence the closure. |

A list from my 2023 trips
Asilah - Hotel Sahara.35.46746, -6.03165
Less than a windy hour from TanMed, this is a classic, old style cheapie. Nicely tiled, room 100d are tiny with a bed, sink and a coat hook. Breakfast not included (cafe other side of the block) + a good seafood round the corner they say. You can park moto in the yard next door for a small tip. Handy cheapie to/from the port; i stay here regularly. Hotel des Ambassadeurs, Gueliz, Marrakech. 31.63795, -8.01769 Tried them all in a 5-min range and this massive-looking place is the most OK that's 2 mins walk from Loc 2 Roues moto rentals. Corner of busy junction, ask for a quiet room off the street or listen to wheelieing moto hoons all night. Biggish rooms, TV, a/c, balcony, wifi works in the room; toilet attached to the floor, towels etc. Breakie is a big buffet. Resto never tried. Some cheapie cafes in the backstreets for lunch/dinner; pricier tourist places on the main drags, Change bureau round the corner. 550/650d depending on who's at the desk. Parking in the basement garage, but one time I noticed my bike (under cover) had been meddled with. Now I park at Loc. Taliouine - Auberge Askaoun (the one on the north side) About 300d half board and now with air-con/heating. Small rooms. Great food. Bikes can park inside, good wifi, Hamid know his pistes. Igherm The hotel Anzal on the corner - packed with the town's menfolk watching footie - claimed no rooms this time. The hitherto always closed Rendezvous round the corner (30.0894, -8.4604) was open but notably much less popular with footie fans or anyone. Bloke in the cafe below tried hard to put us off. Up we went. Ablutions are Lynchian and afaict, the rooms/sheets are never cleaned either. As someone else said, you tend to sleep in your clothes/s-bag. Bloke left in charge missed the hospitality module BUT... a sink in the room and like the Anzal, it's just 50D pp. As cheap as they get. Grin and bear it; wait for the dawn. Foum Zguid Like a lot of places post covid, the bloke at Auberge Iriki, down a side street south end of town (30.07747, -6.87111) seems to have lost interest. Old style rooms are biggish, car park inside, wifi got there in the end, food was a bit slack but 200D HB is fair enough. Tamnougalte (Agdz) Always nice to pop into the welcoming Kasbah Itrane (30.6751, -6.3938), even when not on tour with the bikes. 3-400/500D HB. Wifi, but not in rooms, big parking, pool & terrace, cats, occasional alcohol, pterodactyls, amuse bouche. OZT (west) Kasbah Zitoune is pleasingly far from town (turn south @: 30.9229, -6.9906, easy to miss), takes cards with a fee, has alcohol, moveable wifi and big rooms where everything works/is present, but new owners and now 650d HB for 2024 – a bit ripe for my tastes. Pool and hamman added. Pulled a silly stunt: meat tajine brought out - then 'a special extra from the chef!' was announced with much fanfare: a place of veggies. Will find somewhere else in OZT. Auberge Tigmmi, Ijoukak (30.98561, -8.14999) A handy 110km from Marrakech or 35km from Tizi n Test with rustic rooms great food, wifi and warm welcome from Housseine. Damaged in the earthquake; reopened March 2024. 260D HB Adam Park, RAK (31.5962, -7.98976) Relatively palatial resort spread out south of Marrakech, 10 easy mins from airport. We grabbed a twin room off booking for 90 euros (usually much more). Everything worked everywhere. In house Italian resto was one of the best meals we had. Breakfast is a seriously lavish buffet. Auberge Tazolt, Sirwa (1800m) (30.7857, -7.7762) New looking auberge/hammam serving a handy area, about 10km north of Askaoun. Elevation nearly 1850m so bring a hat. En suite rooms and interior are plain, but plumbing worked. Courtyard for bikes. Berber guardians barely speak French, but warm welcome as usual. Phone only: 06 56 66 91 62 250d dinner 70d brek 30d We stopped in for a lunch a week later too with prior notice. 50d for a salad & omelette. BYO vache. Great tracks in all directions. Hotel Hagounia, El Ouatia (Tan Tan Plage) (28.4908, -11.3370 Easy to find right on the seafront and opposite the camping. Wifi, TV, fridge. Park on the pavement (we were in a car). Breakfast extra but a cafe/resto on the street level or more up the road. Was £24/20 on Booking for a double. Great value. Seaview was extra but we got one anyway. Town restos are a 10 min walk north or hotel resto will do you what you want. Dar Imrane, Tata (29.7562, -7.9771) Dar Imrane, Tata Tranquil place at the top end of Tata by the big oued. On Google Maps and phone number on the door. 212 6 62 05 02 86, darimrantata@gmail.com Unfinished building behind the wall/gate can look off putting (knock next door to the north) but down in the garden they’ve built a nice mud brick courtyard compound with 3-4 rooms. Omar is your solicitous host speaks good french. Parking space + shade in the courtyard and outside under cover. New ablutions, twin room shares, double room is en suite. Great food but no cheaper than Relais Sables down the road. Wifi. 350d with brekkie (about the same price on Booking). Dropped to 300 for more than a night. 3 course meat tajine 150d (veg 70d). All done out with thoughtful touches but tbh a bit pricey compared to the modern, en suite Relais which is a safe if unadventurous bet down the road. Double room a week or two later was 1600 2 nights half board. In town the old Renaissance may have have an overdue exterior makeover but didn't go inside. 40km up the road I checked out the gite in Tleta Tagmout. Been there for years and it's showing it and looking a bit tired. Non en suite rooms but could be a gite of character. Woman was not able to give me a price nor able to contact anyone who could. I'd guess 150d. Kasbah El Mehdaoui, Skoura west (30.9997, -6.5701) About 15 mins out of town, overlooking the Dades (bridge and car ford). Garage for bikes. Bloke speaks English. Small a/c rooms on the roof terrace with river view spoiled a bit by the railings. Food was large amounts. 300dh hb Aguim Dar Zara on the N9 RAK-OZT N9 road about 10km south of Aguim (fuel). So 140km from RAK; 54 to OZT. Looks a bit rough from the outside but you get what you pay for inside. Someone's home, not a purpose built auberge. Wifi and 5+ en suite rooms round a central lounge/eating area Dinner was usual tajine but plenty of it. We paid 1500D half board for 7 pax in 4 rooms. On booking and google, etc. maps. Assa. M d’H Sirwaji On the edge of the mostly ruined ksar overlooking the burned out palmerie, a very nicely restored plain adobe maison d’hotes with room set around courtyards. A couple of doors down from a similar but more rustic place I stayed in years ago. En suite mud rooms with good bedding and abutions. Off road parking for a car or two. No wifi and host may not speak much French. We paid 520d half board direct for just a veg tajine (1 course) which seemed a bit much. Would be 400d on Booking + food. 212 6 51 25 86 99 Maisondhotesirwaji gm ail.com https://web.facebook.com/diafa.sirwaji |

My list from Jan–March 2024
Tizi Maison d'Hotes, Telouet.
31.29114, -7.24206 On Booking. Would normally avoid Telouet but warm welcome from English speaking matey, with en suite rooms preheated for us and a good feed. Wifi. Bikes in the lane but fine. 350dh pp HB iirc Auberge Raha, Alemdoun 31.42915, -6.20257 Large bare rooms with mattress on the carpeted floor, no sheets, shared ablutions, plain dining hall a bit grubby. Meal was OK. Not effort made, just a repurposed spare building adjoining family dwelling. No wifi and overpriced at 300pp HB. Would try the other gite in Alemdoun next time or continue down the Valley of Roses road where there are loads more. El Khorabat near Tinejdad 31.49453, -5.08548 elkhorbat.com Lovely place off the beaten track as good as it looks on its website, pool, wifi, great food, terraces, bikes inside, interesting village. We paid 500dh HB. Looking forward to going back. Serdrar Camp, south of Tazzarine 30.72154, -5.47574 serdrar-camp.com On booking, a few kms of dirt to get there from either side. Been wondering about this place, a large compound in the middle of the desert south of Tazzarine, as there is not much in that town. We stayed in large tents with ablutions nearby. Normal rooms also available. Popular with other travellers and vanners it seems. Food was great but felt a bit artificial, like a holiday camp. 450 HB iirc Maison d'hôte Tamatart, west of Kelaa 31.18438, -6.21156 On Google maps in a tangle of villages, but just off the old MH14 route. We spent 3 nights here as a base for western Saghro, a family home so comings and goings and small en suite rooms with a cozy European touch. Bikes inside. Good wifi, great food. Tour of the old town. Sons speak English. 300dh HB was a great deal. Gîte Aoujdade Taghia 31.7889, -6.07386 On Google, 8km from Zawaiat I tried to ride the few miles here from ZH in 2018 but was told it was mules only. Either that rule has changed or they've built a track. Not sure we stayed at the place we reserved, but hard to tell in sunless Taghia, a striking valley head or cirque ringed with monumental cliffs and popular with climber. Rooms with ablutions outside, meal was good, wifi was found (no 4G here). Amazing stars. A bit of an experience. 300dh HB Tighremt Assif Melloul, Anergui 32.02551, -5.93565 anergui.com/gite-atlas Lovely looking place with a bit of class at the south end of the valley. No signs but warm welcome, loads of great food, roof terraces and lounge areas. Rooms are small and dead cold in Feb (no heating). No wifi but 4G. A bit flasher than the other gite in the main part of Anergui. We came from the south down the new, near-finished track. 350HB Auberge Tissadrine, Dades Gorge, near the base of the hairpins 31.52198, -5.92907 On Booking Stumbled on this hotel in a dark and on spec after a very long day. Didn't quite believe 300dh HB, but that was the low season Jan Feb price I paid (normally 500 and still worth it). Warm welcome, heating, English spoken, great food, small en suite rooms with much needed heating, overlooking the river and a cozy interior. Parking. There are loads and loads of places along this popular gorge; I was dead lucky to find this one. Bloke I met later stayed nearby and had usual tourist trap run around. Kasbah Tifoultoute Ouarzazate west 30.92659, -6.99031 Passed this striking hilltop place many times and, like a gullible tourist, was curious. Not anymore. Checked it out in Dec at 250HB, seemed OK, faded grandeur and incongruous elements. In Feb 250 agreed, but jumped to a ridiculous 600 next morning until we showed them booking.com at nearly half that. And as expected, meal was the worst I've had in Morocco which takes some doing. Settled on 450 HB. Tigmi Dar Sami, Bine Ouidane/Azilal 32.09971, -6.46476 Half a day’s drive east of RAK and on the ‘metro Morocco border’. It’s not like ‘southern’ places and could be in Spain. Nice views over the near-empty reservoir, food was good, rooms were cosy. wifi was OK. Small portal in the entry gates was needlessly annoying with bags. Park outside. 470dh on Booking + tax, plus 150 for the dinner. There are other similar priced options on Booking along the lake’s north shore to Ouaouazaght. Auberge Agoudal, north end of Agoudal 32.01675, -5.48131 Has improved since we last stayed here in the 90s but, as elsewhere, leaving a young lad in charge won’t give the best impression. He called someone to agree on 400d half board, but could only be bothered to make an OK tajine. That was it. En suite rooms are fine, with air-con/heaters, and lounge is cozy with a wood burner. All-night barking dogs. Next time might try the Citoyene, next one down on the left. Riad Nomad, Foum Mharech 30.74514, -4.55297 Was intrigued by this remote place at the mouth off the Mharech gorge, east of Tafraoute Sidi Ali. We crossed the chott in a dust storm with the aid of GPS, arriving at the classic room-rimmed courtyard garden riad perched on a rise and with big rooms, slow (satellite?) wifi (4G worked). 580d half board off Booking. Warm welcome but unusually a bit plain; not sure it deserves the 9 rating on Booking apart from location on a clear day. Starters in the austere dining room were warmed up, keftas were disintegrated, but brekkie was the usual spread. Later we passed an auberge not far at the other end of the gorge; might be worth a look next time. Kasbah Erg Chebbi 31.18246, -4.03196 North end of the erg, away from the throng and right by the dunes. Attached to an abandoned block but nice enough, seemed popular and warm welcome. Food was good; Small en suite rooms OK; wifi in the lounges. 460d on Booking (nearly half price) was about right. Food was 120d, iirc. Scores of places all around here of course; KEC was good enough for quick overnight. Otherwise, research more closely for somewhere special. Carrefour des Nomades, before Mhamid 29.82927, -5.66393 We couldn’t pin down a good last-minute place in Tagounite, so hoped for the best heading for Mhamid, a place I’d avoided for 20 years. Carrefour by a car junkyard was 650d plus dinner on Booking that night. Would not normally go this high. Same price quoted on arrival iirc, but we were too tired and Mhamid prices seemed crazier. Nice enough kasbah style, usual bathroom issues, wifi downstairs only, food was good. Definitely not a 650d joint but I see their website quotes €53 HB. Next morning we were given a 930dh bill for two rooms half board - so 485d each. A fair price so would recommend. Kasbah Assia, Foum Zquid My usual cheapie, Auberge Iriki seems to have lost its mojo, post Covid. Wanted to try Hiba by the oued but price has gone nuts. Never noticed this one just off the roundabout; seemed very popular. Chummy but slack bloke in charge, our last-minute, stuffy windowless, en suite rooms were off the dining room (others may have windows outside), wifi hit and miss, bed exceptionally hard even by Moroccan standards. And food was the blandest tajine I’ve had in years. Very rare that happens. Breakfast was a buffet. 380dh on Booking + 120 for the meal. Park nearby. Not bad, especially if Ibrahim's resto by the roundabout is open late. Jnane Leila, Route de Ourir, a few km south of RAK 31.55931, -7.97819 Looked good online but last Nov we were thwarted by not uncommon Booking directions which were miles out (full and quick refund). This time a hefty 860d a room + 300 for a quite good non tajine meal. Outside looks rough but lavish garden and pool inside, gloomy welcome, a couple of other guests. Rooms have a lounge and their own wifi routers (9mb download!), nice sheets, heaters but usual bathroom issues (broken toilet seat; shower mount found outside in the bushes!). Good coffee with brekkie buffet. Park outside. All-night barking dogs. One of many resort-type places in the sprawling flat area south of the airport. Still looking for a good value place with easy airport access to return a rental. Auberge Ennakhil, Nekob 30.86605, -5.85540 Right on the road east of town. Bought by a developer? and much changed since my last stay in 2008. Now 12 still small en suite rooms but with nice touches. Dining area a bit plain (by Moroccan standards), small pool on terrace, inside parking, great view to old Nekob and north over the remains of the palmerie to the mountains. Food was a la carte (rare in the south) and 100d a go; rooms are 350d or '€35' on the website. Staff speak English. Good place to know in Nekob. Riad du Sud, Tamsahelte (Tazzarine) 30.82018, -5.66146 Traditionally built auberge on the edge of the village a mile off the main road (signage a bit vague). Bargain at just €13 on booking ($50 on www.riaddusud.net). Big evening meal cost about the same. Warm welcome from Zaid (French only), a/c/heater, comfy bed, rustic features, shady gardens, park moto inside. Good place at booking price as not many options in Tazzarine. Tracks from here lead to Ait Ouazik and Tafetchna gap. Z Hotel, Meknes 33.8414, -5.5212 Dead easy to find, right on the N13 opposite fuel stations when coming into town from the south, just after you cross the A2 east-west motorway. 575d on Booking where it's oddly lowly rated. Looks like a 4 star to me with everything working except wifi in the room (on some devices). Resto does non-tajines which is a break, but you'll pay European prices. Great breakfast buffet included. A handy place to know, reachable from Chebbi area via N13, then a shorter day to Tan Med via A2, R405 (fast and easy) and A5. |
My list from March 2023
Melilla
https://www.melia.com/en/hotels/spai...uerto-by-melia Hotel Melia Puerto, Melilla is not in Maroc, but if you come from the 21:00h ferry from Malaga -> Melilla it is a good option. Good hotel, central location, big rooms, secure parking in the hotel garage. There are cheaper options, but securing the bike overnight is a "must have" for me. Not all hotels are open in the early season. Missour Hotel Titanic is like the boat, a bit of a sinker. I got here in the dark from Melilla and it was the only place I could stay with some restaurants around it. It is above a modern looking cafe made out of shiny metal and glass, but the rooms above it are not so shiny. Shower is a laugh, hot water is extra. I had to bargain hard. The owner spoke English. Bike was parked inside the front bit of the cafe. Can't remember the price, but I think it was arond MAD150 incl. breaky. Funny enough I had a really good sleep, I still remember it :-) Only stay here if you must. I know now that a few km further South there is a hotel called Gîte touristique in Ouled Boukhalfa, which might be a better option. Boudnib https://www.facebook.com/francoisrekkam Google Maps shows a handful of places in Boudnib, but Auberge Rekkam is the only place in town that is in function. Nice place. I stayed in a nice little hut, toilet and showers are in a different part of the complex. Good food is cooked for you if you want, plus a glass of Moroccan wine. English is spoken. Nice, friendly owners. Merzouga Auberge Tifinagh, which is on the Southern end right at the foot of the big dunes. Clean and spacious rooms: 2 bedrooms, kitchen, big shower, living room for MAD100 per night, no food included. Bikes in front of the room, in a central area, entry doors close at night. Can't beat it for the price. Restaurants and cafes are within walking distance. Khamlia https://www.facebook.com/people/DAR-...0064240052571/ Hotel Dar Aytma Khamlia is a lovely little place run by a Berber family who are laid back and love & play Gnaoua music sometimes at night. Good food (Berber pizza!), nice & clean room. Good for a stay if you want something else then the Merzouga usual stuff. The main brother knows his pistes. For me this was the starting point for the amazing MS12 track. Alnif https://www.facebook.com/people/DAR-...0064240052571/ Hotel Palmiers is where I stayed in Alnif. There are other options at the other end of the main street, but it looked a bit shabby to me. Also, secure parking wasn't really obvious. Hotel Palmiers has got that grand old hotel feel over it, plenty of rooms. Food available. Secure parking in the back garden. Amellagou https://aubergeamellagou.com/ MAD300 half board, if I remember correctly. Auberge Amellagou is the only place to stay in that area, and it is a rather nice hotel. Very clean, very welcoming. I had a very relaxed hour watching the sunset over the almond trees, from the rooftop lying in one of the comfy sunbeds. Food was tasty, and the host was a source of knowledge. English is spoken. Bike was secure within the garden walls. I stayed one night to do the MH13 Tagountsa tunnel loop track. I would go there again. Zaida Hotel La Pomme is clean and has helpful staff who speak English. I stayed here on my way back North. It has a spacious parking area, but no secure parking. There were a dozen or so other bikers, so I wasn't bothered too much. Their bikes were far newer and cleaner then mine ;-) Food is available next door, I had my breakfast there but it took some time. In town are a string of restaurants that do the usual thing, but it had a bustling feel to it at night. I liked it. Moulay Idriss https://kasabah.xtadia.com/ Hotel El Kasaba is in the old part of town, in an alley right at the end. To get there you have to go up the pavement and through the "Bab Elkasba" gate and turn right, it is at the far end. Clean hotel, good room, every floor has a little sitting area. Food is plenty available in the center of town. M’diq Hotel Nord Kapp (MAD300, no breakfast) was my last stop before crossing the border at Cueta in the early morning. Bike was parked outside the 24/7 reception. Clean room, nothing special. On the top floor is a shisa lounge. Bar downstairs was closed. |
Morocco April 2019 Bike'n'piste trp
April 2019 bike'n'piste trip.
Boundouha, west of Nador, cold draughty Motel Delta Kert, with grumpy manager. Room big. Water hot. Room a bit cold as I'd got cold on bike. 300 dirhams. Fish soup, fried fish platter v good, too sweet mint tea 113 dirhams. Nice brek. Orange juice. Cafe au lait. Egg. Bread. Olives. Jam. Olive oil. 23 dirhams Azrou, Hotel Fath 200 ok but overpriced. Midelt Hotel Bougafer 200 bnb modern but nice, cosy shared space outside room with nice view. Er Rich Hotel Tislit good n cheap 75dh. Busy caff below. Merzouga, Morrocan Family Home also on booking.com under 'Dar Gamra', nice n chilled. Refused offer of camel trip, played house guitar. The rooms felt like painted adobe, so cosy, dry, acoustically quiet not like modern concrete buildings. Paid 80dh first night 100 second as guy had no change. I was ok with that. Fougani aka Sidi Ali, Auberge Lac Maider Tafraout. Nice food, nice place, can't remember price but not too expensive. Zagora, didn't like the place but Riad Dar Zaouia a quiet oasis of a place, nice young guy running it 250dh bnb. Boumalne Dades. Hotel Tazarit. 150bnb cheap, ok(-ish). Guercif Hotel Milano, European style 200dh. No character Nador. Hotel Apartments Dawlize. Weird, massive modern-ish but neglected apartment with too many rooms for 300dh. No character. |
Sorry for the delay in posting this, but thought I'd contribute from my ride around Morocco last year (2023)
Chefchouen - Riad/Dar Zman - Affordable, clean, basic accommodation, did a good breakfast of sweet toast/pastries and juice, friendly staff. Was able to park on Avenue Hassan II, as I pulled up to check my bearings a friendly berber who owned a nearby cafe came over and said I could park (for a fee ;) ) for a couple of nights and he would watch the bike, off the top of my head it was reasonable, so I just paid and the bike was fine and he would chat as I passed during the day/night and invited me in for tea too. Meknes - Ryad Bab Berdaine - Beautiful inside with mosaics, accessible roof top which was great to hang out and watch the sun go down and listen to the call to mosque, friendly staff, short walk from the parking at the Bab Berdieyinne gate (about 400m), clean and basic. Er-Rich area - Kasbah Dounia - Not one of the best places to stay, was a little dirty, shower didn't work, but could park the bike inside the grounds behind a locked door. Between Tinghir/Imiter - Hotel Restaurant Bio Palace - Seemed like it could be touristy, but I was there during Ramadan, owner very polite and accommodating, actually ended up staying here twice after a bad hotel down the way (see below) on my way to the Atlas mountains. Clean, modern hotel with restaurant which had decent enough food, very hospitable and peacocks in the gardens to boot, pretty place. Boumalne Dades - Hôtel Amgoune - Probably the worst place I stayed on the trip, toilet and shower not working, dirty, dark corridors (has multiple levels that do down), personally would avoid going again. North Erg Chebbi area - Kasbah Leila - After being told my booking at another camp was cancelled as I was looking for it amongst the many desert-edge camps, I was looking for a plan B outside what turned out to be Kasbah Leila, I was approached by a 4x4 who happened to be the owner, he was once of the nicest and most hospitable people I met, didn't charge silly prices and actually put me up on the desert edge in a luxury tent for my first night before moving in to the hotel the next night due to a coach of tourists coming. All the staff were friendly and didn't take advantage of my situation, would visit again if I could. Agouti - Gite Imarin - Scenic stay, host very friendly, food was very good, clean and comfy room, can park the bike around the back of the rooms, small off-road track to reach here, but nothing to worry about when dry though. Hope this helps, the only other stay was in a bland hotel in Casablanca. |

Finally got to try out Riad Hiba overlooking the big oued in Amerzou (Foum Zguid north): 30.12587, -6.87354. Tried emailing direct: no answer. On booking.com at 500dh so knew it was over-priced for plain rooms with 1960s hospital beds. Some no exterior windows.
Another 120dh for 3 course dinner which was huge. Brekkie was good too and place has a bit of character. There's a pool which may explain the price and which she used for water when the taps/showers weren't working next morning. Good to try but won't stay here again at the booking price. try: 06 62 08 51 87 There's a new auberge in Aguinane off the start of the bypass climb in 'Azegza' as Google Maps call it. Aguinane Guest House: 30.19855, -7.55902 right on the TMT. On Insta, gmail and answers W'Ap quickly. Loads of parking and 4 nicely done en suite rooms + another 3 hared; 250 HB - bargain. Will try it out next week. |
Trip November 2024
Mostly (wild) camping, but some auberges due to weather or location. (wild) camping: Just south of the Col du Belkassem (32.13279, -3.69292) - Truly beautiful spot. Hassilabied (Merzouga) "Secret du Sahara" - On the side of the dunes. Basic campspot. Fine owner (does tours to). Hotwater shower en decent lavatories. Paid 80dH for a night of camping. Zagora "Oasis Palmier" - Just outside the centre. A busy campsite with all sorts of travelers. Smal(ish) spots. But very friendly owner. Pay extra for hot shower. I Paid 40Dh for camping and got a free Basil plant. Auberges/Gites Alnif "Repos de Nomades" - Clean, quiet and a very friendly owner. Nice dinner & breakfast. Doesn't have normal rooms, but I got one of his 'annex' (lockable). Charged 100dH for all (paid him a little more). Tagmout "Gite détappe Amground" - Simple. Private room (2beds on the ground). Breakfast. Nice owner, although he speaks little french. Paid 100dH, could probably be half if I wanted to. Cheers |
Three more on the TMT.
Relais des Sables, Tata (on the main road, south end of town by the fuel stations). Well known spot but not stayed here before. 350d seemed like a bargain off booking. Dinner and breakie were another 200d. Beer & wine. Lovely lounging area by small pool. Great wifi in all the rooms with a rare thing in the south: a bathroom where everything is present/works/is solidly attached. Meal was what you were given and nothing special, given the plush surroundings. A nice treat after a few tough days on the trail. Reception bloke clarified the fact that booking can often charge less than he would over the counter. Good for us; less good for lodgings. I guess Relais make it back on the food and booze. Ferme d'hôte Amerdoul. Icht. Signed south end of Icht. Never fully confirmed W'Ap messages to check/reserve, but occupied. Try: 07 66 95 47 56 whatsapp campinghotelamerdoul @ gmail. Looked dormant but all fine, great food, nice folks, wifi, good signal. New owner with big plans, I'm told. 465d half board for 4 en suite, non a/c rooms around a small courtyard (300d). More rooms planned. Loads of space and some shade and amenities for campervans too. Great rustic alternative and more my sort of place than nearby Bordj Bir if you can skip the booze and candlelit dining. Will stay here again. Ksar Tifnidilt - 20km N of Tan-Tan + 6km 28.54581, -10.99253 On M4 Route F8 coming in from the coast. Otherwise, beware the 6km track coming in off the N1 highway (tiny sign easily missed) just N of the Draa Bridge and CP. Deep sandy episodes will be challenging if tired andor on a big bike or 2WD. Still run by the French woman Magoli who had it built in the early 2000s - opposite a ruined fort. You get the feeling she quite likes the difficult access - a campervan filter. Would have liked to have enjoyed more but got in in the dark and left early. 550dh HB, small rooms, some mozzies, great food + alcohol. 06 63 23 31 15 Hotel Riad, Tiznit On the right coming up from the south, just before a Shell on the left. Bargain at 150dh en suite and 100 shared. Rooms like this 400+ in Marrakech. Cafe below does does a great brekkie for 30-40. Wifi is weak. Medina nearby for a feed. Park outside on the service road. Guardian. Quick and easy stopover if heading through. hotel.riad3@gmail.com 05 28 86 04 48 |
Lodge Le Noyer
Lodge Le Noyer, east of Tabant
Section P of the TMT Also shows as Ait Ayoub Voyages and Cafe Noumidia MJ53+244 ait ayoub ib+212 671-192287 +212 671192287 and +212 652367798 I've added it to IOverlander and corrected the marker on OpenStreetMap Stayed here 8 November 2024. Clean place, nice welcome, good food. Probably 8 or so ensuite rooms, we had the bunk room (5 single beds) on the top floor. Place is set up for trekking groups. There's a lockable courtyard at the top of a ramp. The owner will tell you how good the Tizi n'Ait Imi is - snow or road closures. The road to the pass is tarmac all the way to the top, with about 8kms of piste on the way down |
My list from a week in the Atlas April 2025
Hotel Ambassadeurs, Gueliz, Marrakech
31.63799, -8.01769 On the noisy corner 15 mins taxi or 30 mins bus from the airport and 2 mins walk for moto rentals Loc2 Roues or Tenere Riders. Blvd can be noisy on weekends with wheelie hoons and minstrels; ask for a back room. I use booking - about 500dh with a good buffet brekkie. It's the best in the vicinity; I've tried them all. Loads of restos nearby, and BdC round the corner (better than airport rates). Tighremt Assif Melloul, Anergui 32.02551, -5.93565 See my previous post Now 400HB but still a great deal in a lovely valley. He even gave us a picnic lunch! On the TMT. Kasbah Izza, north of Kelaa on the R317 31.2622, -6.13674 Was aiming for nearby Kasbah Itran but that had a wedding on. Nicely done rooms, loads of behind wall parking but seemed a bit unfinished outside. 600dh HB with a truly awful 'sardine fishball' tajine + obsequious matey sitting there on his phone while we ate was a bit annoying. On the TMT. Auberge Camping Baddou, a few km N of Nekob on Route Z5, near TMT. 30.90782, -5.88928 Tried this new place out of town but garden wasn't quite as nice as on booking, and rooms and salon were basic. Worked out 600HB iirc - more than I normally pay. Kasbah Adrar, Imilchil north end 32.16603, -5.62977 Nice to come back to Mustapha's place after years, easily spotted just out of town on the right. Feels neglected/dormant and rooms are literally a bed in a room + en suite, but easy to find and away from the throng. On the TMT. 300HB https://overlandershandbook.wordpres...5/04/lodg1.jpg Auberge Tissadrine, Dades gorge, just below the hairpins, on TMT 31.52211, -5.92907 There are loads and loads of places strung along the R704 from B.Dades to Imilchil, but Tissadrine is more hotel than auberge and well worth 500dh HB over the counter, (500dh B&B on booking) and probably negotiable. imo. Warm welcome, nice interior and rooms, 5 course meal, barking dogs. Avoid Babylon over the road, I was told. Dar Megdaz, Megdaz, off Route H3, High Atlas 31.39012, -6.79047 (400m rough path from parking) website I'd read of this place and we were passing by so gave it a go. Set in a red stone Amazigh hillside village, it was just 1 euro for a non-ensuite room + €10 'tax' on booking, but then a steep 210dh for ordinary evening meal and brekkie. Village looks amazing from the roof, but inside the ancient dar, a jumble of basically converted small rooms and shared ablutions. Has a nice little terrace and all-up a bit of an experience, but not the 'exceptional' booking rating, unless you've been mule trekking for days or never been elsewhere in the mountains, like Anergui. https://overlandershandbook.wordpres...5/04/lodg2.jpg https://overlandershandbook.wordpres...2025/04/de.jpg |
