Leaving a car in Cambodia
We are currently crossing China headed towards Laos and were planning to leave our Toyota in Bangkok while we head home for a few weeks over Christmas. Just discovered the new Thai regulations do not allow this so we are thinking of leaving the car in Cambodia instead and taking public transport to Bangkok. Does anyone know of a secure place in Cambodia where we could leave the car for around 4 weeks over Christmas

Hi.
You could try to ask in Homeland Guesthouse in Phnom Penh. They found me a place in the University for my motorbike. I know it isn't the same a car and a motorcycle, even with side cases, but who knows. I can't say how safe it was because I finally left in a motorcycle shop. |

If you want to delve into Sinoukaville and down to Otres I could probably send you in the right direction - that may involve some extra miles but my goodness the place is beautiful and really fun

Hi all, we're thinking of leaving our car in Cambodia while we venture into Vietnam by foot for a month. (Currently in Laos.) Any ideas about the paperwork side of this? We don't have a carnet, so are not even sure we can get across the border into Cambodia. How are you guys dealing with the paperwork of leaving it?
Thanks! |
Leaving a car in Laos
Hi
Thank you to all who posted on here. We have left the car in Laos in a garage having some work done. He has kindly agreed to have it in December too. We had to go to customs near the friendship bridge in Vientiane as normally you only get 30 days on the car permit. We had to provide a good reason and a letter from the garage saying they would store it and were able to have a permit for about 90 days. We are not sure if we can get the car into Cambodia from Laos or into Thailand as 2 friends have just been turned down for a permit. Does anyone know if we can take the car into Vietnam and ship from there please? Many thanks The Turtle |
