Zeebrugge -Munich-Amsterdam

Hello folks. 3 of us have booked ferry out from Hull-Zeebrugge coming back from Amsterdam- Newcastle and we have 5 nights to cram as much in as possible..This site has been useful on previous trips thanks to all your good advice so was just looking to throw it out there to those in the know.Looking for good roads, routes, stopovers(hotels or b&bs) and any not too miss sights, but obviously good biking roads being a priority. My friends and I would appreciate any advice or tips from anyone who has been in this area and travelled through them. Usual plan of attack is forests and winding roads and only resort to motorways at end of day to make up time if neccessary..Cheers and thank you in advance for any advice. I have booked hotels (although they can be changed)so advice on any of the following routes would be a great help
Day 1 Zeebrugge -Heidelberg
Day 2 Heidelberg - Konstanz
Day 3 Konstanz - Munich ( hoping to do some alpsstuff en route if anyone has any ideas)
Day 4 Munich -Bonn
Day 5 Bonn-Amsterdam.

Any ideas?

Gordon

I have travelled that way quite a few times over the years.

Personally, I avoid the vicinity of the Bodensee which is heavily trafficked - the large lake acts as a natural barrier and channels the traffic accordingly.
Conversely there are some great routes east of Lindau: any decent map will show you where the twisties are.

Just about anyone puts in the miles out of the ports so as to leave them behind asap because they are located on the flat lands of the low countries.
More or less the same comment applies for any of the cities such as Munich:- the land around there is flat and "routine".

Look for good roads in the area of the Ardennes, just 2-3 hours from the channel ports and thereafter just about anywhere along the borders (they are ancient international borders for good reason).

You must know about the Black Forest and the B500. :thumbup1:

Incidentally, watch out for traffic police near the international borders: the Dutch, for instance, like to catch speeding vehicles with German registrations but they will pick up other nationalities as well.
