West Poland roads? Advice please

Still trying to arrange this years 1 week motorcycle trip in September. Travelling from ijmuden ferry, can anyone advise if we were to get to the German/ polish border and in to western Poland, is there any decent motorcycling to be had in this area as we would be keen to explore if there is twisty roads, mountains, hills etc.

I can't say that I've spent a lot of time in Poland, but I have passed through it several times on trips between Germany and Russia.

IMHO Western Poland has pretty miserable riding. Lots of small roads going in directions you don't want, traffic, tractors, no-passing zones, no good scenery, etc. Poland is one of the few countries I've been to where I would happily hop on the highway as soon as possible.

If you have to go to Poland for some reason, your best bets might be to head to the Carpathians in the south, the lakes region in the east, or perhaps you could find something interesting along the Baltic coast (I have not ridden along there).

Hopefully someone that knows Poland well will appear to contradict me and point out all of the excellent roads in Western Poland!

I can tell you quite a bit about riding in Poland as this is my homeland. As @motoreiter said - there are som boring bits of roads in our country, especially the wide, center zone. I would avoid it, to be honest - there are some nice sceneries (occasionally) but nothing breathtaking (might get scolded for it by my fellow countrymen, but there we go).

On the other hand: you can ride through beautiful northern gems of the country. Check the Kashubian sandy roads (Chojnice -> Kościerzyna -> Kartuzy, just avoid main roads). If you are into it, let me know I will explain in depth), and then previously mentioned lake region - Masurian Lake District (around Giżycko).

There is also south zone of mountain roads, just go along the south border - usually decent tarmac roads, however heavy traffic. I personally tend to go along the border, but on the Czech side (about 50% less traffic comparing to the parallel roads on the Polish side).
