my plan was to ride south down the east coast and north up the west, then from moroc ferry to spain, on to the UK or maybe germany...

currently i am still in tanzania, a long way behind schedule.

i'd be on track to leave RSA heading into namibia with angola, DRC & congo visas (hopefully...) around late october. i want to spend about 3 weeks in namibia, and then push through DRC, congo, cameroon, gabon etc arriving morocco in mid to late january '11. this will put me in europe around february.

is it feasible to ride the deserts of mali, the mountains of morocco, the main roads in winter of europe, at this time of year? rather, is it rational, fun, etc?

You were fine until you got to "the mountains of Morocco" in January and "the main roads....of Europe" in February. On a bike, this takes more than I've got available....although certainly it can be done if you're determined (and lucky).
