UK to Dakar Off Road

I know this is a well trodden route, but am planning a off road trip from the UK to dakar in 2009.

UK to Spain / Morocco border on road, then off road down through Africa.

Does anyone know of a central location / thread where GPS routes can be exchanged ?

Iv completed a couple of tours in Morocco in previous years, and have some track logs which may be of use to others.

Am looking to hear from anyone who may have 'intermediate' level tracks for any part of the trip. When I say intermediate, I mean suitable for KTM 640 Adventure, with luggage. Experienced (but not pro) off road riders.

Thanks in advance.

If we can get the cash sorted out (might have to rob a bank..) some freinds and I are planning to do this late '08 early '09, will try and keep the HUBBers updated. A database of routes would be good though. Fancy splashing out on a GIS server Grant??

The Marokko Topo map does a good job with Moroccan pistes, see GPS Vector Map Morocco. If you have any tracks that are not on this map, please send them to Olaf as he's currently working on a new version. Ideally separate them into pistes and roads.

Another good resources for Morocco are the Gandini guides: Guides des pistes du Sahara - Maroc - Tunisie - Libye He used to sell the waypoints in an electronic format, but I can't see these on the site.

Voyage 4x4 has tracks for further south: Voyages 4x4

mate and myself are of to Dakar on Boxing day on his 950 KTM and my 600XT we are head down to Mauritania hanging a left at the border and heading to Atar then out to Guelb er Richat to look at the crater ,then heading down to Tidjikja. We will then cut across to Dakar not quite sure of which route yet , will post the story When we get back .Buy yourself a copy of Chris Scotts book Sahara Overland it`s got loads of info plus way points etc.
Next trip either Peru/Chile or the Namid/Kalahari desert
It`s not the the destination but the journey thats the enjoyment

Unleaded fuel in southern Morocco

I´m also planning to get through Morocco at the start of the Dakar but haven´t been able to find a resource anywhere which details fuel stop locations, particularly unleaded which can be harder to find (I know from experience). I´ve been around Morocco before and know fuel isn´t a concern if you stick to the usual roads but as I am planning much more off road this time around, I really need to know where they are. How comprehensive are the T4A and Marok maps for this type of info and where else can I look?
