Uk to Cyprus
I am riding from UK to Cyprus leaving on 1st Feb! Question is; is it possible to ride a bike through A40/E25/Chamonix-Mont-Blanc/Turin at this time of year? Not worried about cold, just really if the roads are kept clear to ride safely. Any up to date info would be great.
Thanks, Mike |
Have a look at the BISON FUTE website for info on traffic anywhere in France.
Alternately, look at TMB - User Info# and click on the link under France CAM to have a real time camera view of the Mont Blanc tunnel. |
Mount Blanc
Hi Mike,
I used to live in Chamonix. I drove a van thorughout the winter and never had any problems on the main roads. Even when the snow is extremely bad, they keep the main roads in a fantastic state. The A40 is dual carriageway from Geneva and rarely has snow at that altitude. Once your start the climb, the gritted main road (E25 will be fine, just go steady on the 180 bends) I hope your not too claustrophobic for the 11k tunnel!!!! There are blue markers in the tunnel to keep distance between vehicles, make sure you do, they are very funny about it....:mchappy: I hope the weather is clear for your trip, so you can see your valley in all its glory!!! Safe ride, Ollie |
Thanks for the info.
Regards, Mike |
