UK - to be confirmed

Hello all this is my first post so bear with me.

I'm at a stage in my life were I need to get away to focus on me. My relationship is coming to an end and running my business is taking it's toll on me. So I'm looking at the possibility of going on an adventure.

I'm based in the UK and would ideally like to leave around mid June. I don't have too much in a way of a plan but does from now until mid June seem like enough time to plan?

Ideally I'd like to go East into Asia and was wondering how far it would be possible to get from the UK without a carnet?

Also how are people finding riding in this region with the current situation of the corona virus?

Thank you everyone and I really appreciate your knowledge and advice.

Be a little bit careful, IME people who try and run away from their problems find they take them with them.

But in practical terms, the journey you are thinking about is do-able. I'm heading east this year out of UK and taking a meandering route across Siberia to Magadan, then turning round to go through Mongolia, Kazakhstan, the Pamir Highway and Silk Road. I will not need a carnet for any of that. Iran and China are the only countries thereabouts that insist on a carnet and I suspect Chinese borders will be closed to tourists for much of this year. So far the CV doesn't seem to be affecting travel to much, but of course that could all change if it becomes uncontained (which is entirely possible).

If you want to head for SE Asia you'll need to go south of Afghanistan, through Iran, Pakistan and India which does mean carnets and bureaucracy.

Preparation, my bike is bought and pretty much fully prepped, just needs service and new tyres (790 Adventure). I started having jabs for a May departure late last year, as some have to be done over a prolonged period - though you could shorten this without too much extra risk. Yesterday I applied for a Russian visa (90 days double entry business visa) which can be done max 90 days before arrival in Russia. Other countries on the way I will get visas on the road, others are no visa required for UK citizens.

My route will take 5-6 months I reckon, and a rule of thumb cost is $70 a day (more in Europe, less in Asia). PM me if you wanna chat.

Taking time out too reboot, recharge and discover whats important to you is something we should all do when needed.

Running away from debts or problems, they will be there when you get back, travelling to clear the mind, nothing better.

My place of peace is the Balkans. Specifically a small village on the Serbian Bosnian border. A BnB built on the river run by a great guy, who's also a biker. No good if you're looking for pubs clubs and bars, but great for healing the soul..
