Tuscany : recommend me my first town....

Hi, I set off for Italy on a bit of a last minute trip. The plan is to visit towns in and around Tuscany, and perhaps explore further down the west coast. I've never driven in Italy before, but some previous visits tell me to stay away from the cities and big towns, I'm looking for a relaxing holiday !
I'm coming from the UK and will enter Italy somewhere between Turin and Genoa, question is, could anyone recommend me a beautiful little town where I can readily find aaccomodation and pleasant restaurants ?

Any information would be much appreciated

Paul

Bardonecchia, west of Torino on the border with France, is a place to see; it is not quite into Tuscany but it has the "history" of the Stella Alpina meet which occurs on 12 July this year (and it's the 50th anniversary).

Everywhere in Italy has pleasant restaurants :thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1:

Hi Paul

I would recommend Siena and Montepulcianon definitely. Depends how far south you aim to get but both places are stunning. The Palio in Siena in August is nuts but sounds like you'll be there beforehand anyway.

Always wanted to check out the Ducati Museum at the factory in Bologna but it closes for August...the only 2 times I've been in the area. Damn!

Cheers

Chris

I did it, only stumbled upon Montepulciano based on where I ended up, and some notes I'd made, absolutely stunning :) thank you for the advice
