Turkmenistan - Iran border crossing
 

Hi everyone,

does anyone have reliable infos of crossing from Turkmenistan into Iran? How about a carnet for the bike?

I crossed in the other direction last year. For Iran you need a Carnet, at least that's the official version. Apparently there are ways to enter Iran without a Carnet (use the search function), but with one it's certainly easier.

Info's getting a little old now, but in September 2008 we crossed from Turk to Iran (near Ashgabat). The border crossing was relatively easy and smooth. Plenty of sitting and waiting, but no problems.

We also had carnets.
