Amazing India remember the golden rules

Hi ive traveled in India there's a great adventure to be had on bike in India.

The Royal Enfield 350 Bullet and the bigger 500cc version are solid bikes if they do brake down its very easy to find some one to fix it.

I had a experience one night when my clutch cable snapped and i was stuck, late at night in the middle of no where! after about half a hour two Indian guys came along on a bike and stopped, whilst one was looking at the bike trying to diagnose the problem i talked to the other guy i smiled and tried to impress him with my very limited Hindi langues skills, i asked if they new of where i could fix it, they said "you come" suggesting i get on the back of there bike. So with little other options in the pipe line i reluctantly jumped on asking in my best pigeon English "we come back to bike?" he said "No No, he ride" i said "No No, no clutch" he said No problem, so as in India the old golden rule applied "Go with the flow" "what will be will be" and with that we were off,
the guy on my bike amazingly (to me) road away with ease then the realization suddenly hit me as he disappeared around the corner i dont know these guys from Adam, he could be stealing my bike! I asked my rider "where's he gone on my bike" with his little English he said "No problem no problem, you come with me" so we stopped out side what i presumed was his house and we went in and met his family they were very poor and had lots of kids... so again the golden rule applied (go with the flow) so we waited i played with the kids who were totally amazed by me for some reason? i asked again "wheres my bike " he come...No problem" The wife made us some amazing chai (Indian milky tea) and the offer of food, which they wouldn't take no for a answer so i had some amazing chicken dish ( i think/hope was chicken) and with that i heard the rumble of my bullet arriving so we went out and they started to fix the clutch (he'd gone and got a clutch cable from some where) it took them about 10 mins and it was fixed so i asked "how much do i owe you" (expecting with my western, paranoid attitude, this was some sort of scam and was now going to be charge thousands of Rupees) they said No No, No problem you quest in India! The more i insisted on giving them some money the more they became asserted and the more i felt guilty for thinking it was a scam.

The riding conditions vary in India as it has it all... Dessert, Mountains, Sea/sand, Jungle, to the madness of Delhi and the chaos of Calcutta.

But the roads are very dangerous all over not just up in the north where the lorries over take buses on blind bends with 2000ft shear drops on the side.

The danger mainly comes from other drivers on the road, its not advisable to drive at night because of animals and ox-carts on the road with no lights.

Who has right of way...? At the bottom is the Motorbike then the Car,the Bus/lorry and then all give way to the Elephant.

The Royal Enfield is susceptible to over heating in the hottest seasons.

India is a amazing all inspiring place which can be over whelming make sure you look after yourself eat well and drink lots of water. its a good idea to allow time for illness. which is probable.

Hope you have a amazing time any Q's just ask :D simon
