Trip to Iran with bike shipment from UAE
 

Hi there,
I'm planning a trip from Italy to Iran through Balkans and Turkey.
After that my plan is to take a ferry to UAE and ship out the bike from there in a container.

anyone had a recent experience with ferries in the Gulf? are they reliable?

my concern is that they only run twice a week, and if the first one (wednesday) is cancelled for any reason then the second one is too late, as I would fly away from Dubai on Saturday

another point is how long does it take to carry out formalities in the port?

report of direct experiences are more than welcome

the route in Iran will be quite classic, from Border to Teheran, Esfahan, Yazd, Shiraz, tips other than the most popular places are also welcome

final question, how long does formalities at Turkish/Iranian borders take?
any fee to be paid?
vehicle insurance, is it ok to do at the border or too expensive?
about vehicle insurance, I will need it also in UAE even for few kilometers, any suggestion is welcome
