Touring Morocco

Hello,
My partner and I are in Morocco touring at the moment, and as I write this I am currently in an Internet cafe in Marrakech, map in hand, planning the rest of our trip.
We crossed the Strait of Gibralter into Tanger and from there have done Asilah - Casablanca - Marrakech
Our plan is to make our way back to the top through the east of the country. We have limited time as this is just a small portion of a tour from the UK to Turkey and back, having already come through France, Spain and Portugal.
The route I was thinking of includes:
Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades or Zagora - Erfoud - another stop not sure yet - Fez - Voubilis & Moulay-Idriss - Chefchaouen - Tanger
This is our first time in Morocco so any advice would be very much appreciated!
Thanks in advanca, Gareth and Nicola

I'm doing virtually the same trip in a few months time! I wrote about similar things (below is a link to the replies I got), although the question did centre around the Ouarzazate region.

Enjoy the trip! :D

Assuming you are in Marrakech at the moment, head south over the Tizi n'Tichka and shortly after the highest section turn sharp left downhill signposted Telouet. The Glaoui Kasbah at Telouet is worth visiting. Afterwards the tarmac is a bit grotty for a short while, then the road turns south on new tarmac heading down the Ounila Valley and you reach Ait Benhaddou (bit touristy). Keep heading south and you reach the main road again 25km before Ouarzazate.

After the Gorge of the Dades, head east for Tinerhir then head north up the Todra Gorge and keep going all the way via Ait Hani and Agoudal to Imilchil. Auberge Ibrahim at Agoudal before Imilchil is good, alternatively lots of places in Imilchil.

From there you can either head north via El Kebab towards Khenifra, or east to Midelt.

Sorry for being a little slow on the uptake, Tim, but does going east to Midelt involve the Cirque du Jaffar? I've been looking at Chris Scott's book at this route (MH1 as listed), and it mentions the Cirque but seems to suggest you already know where it is! (I don't) On your Morocco knowledge base site, you mention (I think) that the Cirque is best tackled with some offroad experience / can be a RED route? I have a little, but this will be my first time in Morocco (and with luggage), so I'm wondering whether going North from Imichil might be a better option?

Once again, I appreciate the help. :thumbup1:

Is it likely to take about 4 hours to do the 130 odd miles to go from the Todra gorge past Imilchil and onto El Ksiba? That's excluding taking photo's / rest stops etc.
