The Basque Country

A week ago my family decided to visit a relatives farm outside Abaltzisketa near Tolosa at the foot of the Aralar Mountains in the Basque Country. I have only a Provosional licence and may only be able to rent a 50cc scoot. I was wondering in anyone has crossed to Tolosa from Biarritz or Bilbao, and how accomodating these roads would be to a 50cc bike.

I have a 125 and have crossed Holme Moss many times, so I know a thing or two about going slow! But I dont want to be locking horns with killer trucks or freezing my goolies off on top of the pyrenees becasue my puny engine cant hack it.

Does anyone have any advice or warnings to give me? Or has anyone got a 125cc I can borrow :P

I guess if Birdy can do Africa I should be ok, right? :scooter:

Thanks guys and gals.
Peace and Love.

Hey Tommy, I think you'll be fine. Though I've never gone that small myself.

I've done Biarritz downwards on my Cub, all over through the Pyrenees and Basque area. That's only 90cc and was heavily overladen, and I'm a 14 stone lard ass.

I also did Bilbao and down towards Zaragoza 2 up on our Honda, and that was fine too. No problems.

There are some roads that are way too fast for you, I think the E 70, and E80 are the big ones going your way - but all the big Spanish roads have pretty parallel little ones. Stick to the 'N' roads, and you'll have a whale of a time.

I would go from Biarritz, follow the coast around to San Sebastian, and then dip straight down to Tolosa. Gorgeous roads.

Birdy (in Khartoum, way behind with his blog, but bloody loving Sudan.)
