Thailand Myanmar India Crossing 2016

Hello Fellow Travelers,

I am looking to Ride From Brisbane to India in early 2016. Most of the route seems ok but i am stuck at how to cross through Myanmar to India. Is any one else doing the crossing around the same time ( I was looking at March-April)? i Have read through older threads and found out that all the bookings for Myanmar need to be made through an agent and riders need to be riding in packs of 8 bikes i think. It also helps to split the cost as it seems the crossing is quite expensive. Please correct me if i am wrong. Please let me know if any one is interested or any suggestions about the crossing

Regards

Iyron

Hello. My wife and I are planning to ride two up from Australia to Italy commencing March 2016. We intend to transport the bike to Kuala Lumpur which will be our starting point. We initially were going to ride through China but have found we will be unable to get a Chinese driver's licence because we have just turned 60 years of age. So now we intend to go via India and thus need to go through Myanmar. We have not researched this route yet, but we are interested to be part of a group for such a crossing. We are also interested as to the route Iyron is planning to Germany. David

Hello,

A friend and I are also planning to cross from Thailand to India (ideally through Myanmar) in April/May 2016, and would be keen to join a group and share costs for the Myanmar crossing (and maybe further). Any more details about this would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

Hi all,
we are also planning a trip from Australia through to Europe (and then to Nth and Sth America) next year. Our plan is to fly to Kuala Lumpur in mid January and then ride 2 up from there. It may be a bit earlier than anyone else here is looking at though.

Our initial plan was to go through Myanmar, we have had contact with a company there and have been looking at a trip leaving Thailand Jan 30th arriving in India on Feb 7th. There is already a couple booked on this trip and we would be added to it. A few weeks in India and then we had hoped to go through Pakistan and into Iran. We are getting conflicting reports about travel in Pakistan so have been considering other options, including going up through China and through central Asia then back to Iran, or missing Iran completely. We would happily have guides through both Pakistan and Iran and have looked at one through Iran, haven't had any decent feedback about Pakistan yet though. Another thought was possibly go up through Laos into China, but we haven't yet looked at this.

We are still hoping for the Pakistan - Iran route, happy to share ideas with anyone and all advice welcome!

Myanmar Crossing

Hi guys,

Thread has been a bit quiet for a while, but as time is getting closer we have been looking into the Myanmar crossing again. Here is some information we have been given for a crossing.

Me and a friend are planning on entering Myanmar in mid-May 2016. We are on two motorcycles, and have been in contact with Burma Senses for some quotes. We asked them to put together an itinerary a bit more off the beaten path, to take in some rural/remote areas, and with some unsealed roads etc to make it a bit more exciting, but seeing as they still need to get their guide vehicle around I can't imagine that it can be too bad. We are also both very amateur motorcyclists, so will not be enduro style stuff!

The main difference is that we enter at Mae Sae in Northern Thailand and experience some of the Shan state (as seen in the Top Gear Burma special), rather than Myawady further South.

The quotes and itineraries we have received are below, for 10-days and 14-days.

10 Days: For two people we were quoted $1900 each, but this will be less with more people, as seen with the quotes we got for the 14 -day tour. Includes the hotel accommodation with daily breakfast, permit, guide, entrance fees, toll fees. The price excludes Visa, personal expenses, meals and drinks.

- Day 01: Tachileik (Mae Sai) - Ho Chin Village - Kengtung
- Day 02: Kengtung - Ride to Mongping - Namsang
- Day 03: Namsang - Kakku Pagoda Complex - Inle Lake
- Day 04: Inle - Sagar village
- Day 05: Inle Lake - Pindaya - Mandalay
- Day 06: Mandalay Countryside
- Day 07: Mandalay - Shwebo
- Day 08: Shwebo - Monywa
- Day 09: Monywa - Kalay
- Day 10: Kalay - Tamu (Moreh)

14 Days: Includes hotel accommodation, permit, zone fees, toll fees, pilot car, guide. $2520 for 2 people, $1650 for 4 people, $1380 for 6 people.

- Day 01: Tachileik (Mae Sai) - Ho Chin Village - Kengtung
- Day 02: Kengtung - Ride to Mongping - Namsang
- Day 03: Namsang - Kakku Pagoda Complex - Inle Lake
- Day 04: Inle - Sagar village
- Day 05: Sagar - Loikaw
- Day 06: Loikaw - Pinlaung - Naypyidaw
- Day 07: Naypyidaw - Bagan
- Day 08: Bagan Countryside
- Day 09: Bagan - Ride to Mandalay
- Day 10: Mandalay Sightseeing
- Day 11: Mandalay - Shwebo
- Day 12: Shwebo - Monywa
- Day 13: Monywa - Kalay
- Day 14: Kalay - Tamu (Moreh)

We haven't got anything locked in yet so have some flexibility with our dates. Let us know if anyone is keen!

Cheers,
Mike
