Summer Plans - Any Recommendations Eastern Europe

Hi All,

We are kind of planning our summer hols, got 3 weeks. Plan is to head over thru Germany, Chech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, etc.

We have a approx route here, do you have any recommendations? Thoughts?

If any of you know any gentle off road that would be cool, as we are in our defender.

Cheers

Dan

First of all you cant off road in Slovakia anymore im afraid as its a nicking offence .
Good news is that i live just up the road from you ( Horsham ) and if you want to meet up with your map i travel to that neck of the woods alot as my mate lives in Slovakia ( Nova Zamky ) and we ride on most of the roads you want to try out - last there in May for 3 weeks :thumbup1:
Give me a call on 07768 774098 from Thurs 22nd as back at work then , say who you are as its a works phone and we can have a chat over a beer half way if you like

Hi

Thanks for the reply, and the info. Looks like we are now going backwards round via Tuebingen then Bovec, so that should be interesting an a friend from Spain is driving over to join the route.

Czech Republic

Looks like your route takes you close to Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic, its a lovely town worth a quick stroll round & on the outskirts is a village called Sedlec which is home to the Church of Bones, its an Ossuary that holds the bones of 40,000 people but the odd/weird/interesting bit is the fact that they have decorated the interior with the bones including a chandelier made of every bone in the human body & a huge coat of arms of the local big wig family. A bit bizarre but worth a visit.
Have a great trip.

I would go from Ceske Budejovice to Telc, Jihlava and then via D1 motorway to Prague. Telc is UNESCO protected city, castle Rostejn is nearby, Jihlava is very nice old town and then 1hr drive to Prague. Journey from Ceske Budejovice to Prague like you planned is quiet boring.

Don't Forget Austria

I think skipping Austria would be a huge mistake. Unless you've already been there. Drop down into Innsbruck through Seefeld in Tirol. The scenery is breathtaking.

Hi,

I think you are right, I would love to spend more time in Austria, but we are short of time.

Luckily I spent a few days in Austria already this year, and I plan to go back and give the country the attention it deserves.
