Sudan in Summer - Madness?

Delays caused by visas, breakdowns and spending too much time in places we've liked means we have hit a problem... we are in Libya heading east. If we continue south from Egypt we will be crossing Sudan and southern Egypt in late July/early August. Are we mad?

Our 33 year old V8 FC101 is already suffering from overheating problems. Hopefully we have cured the worst, but we are heavy and V8s are notoriously hot at the best of times.

We are flexible and if it is stupid we will make other plans for our trip, staying longer in the Middle east and heading up through eastern Europe as spring starts.

So, brutal truth time... is South suicide in summer? Of course even if we make it there is then the question of combating the rains.....

Most places in the Middle East will be HOT that time of the year. We traveled through Sudan in late April and then it was at least 40 every day (and colling down to about 30 at night - one night it stayed 37!!!). We eventually left after 10 days or so because the heat was too much.

Suppose the only option will be to remain in the very north of Egypt or the Sinai, close to the coast at all times where you do nothing for a bit. Dahab is a nice place to do nothing...

Sudan

We are riding our bikes thru in mid Sep. will be still very hot we plan to be up super early and ride to about 8am then, go again around 4pm. We do come from Nth. Qld. OZ so we are a little aclimatized to it, but I really cannot see why you can't do the same.
Cheers
