Spain 3 weeks in June

Wondering if anyone might be able to give me some tips for trip planning for a 3 week motorbiking holiday to Spain this June. Have a dual sport (KTM 890 adventure R) so planning to get off road a bit and avoid cities so National Parks that sort of stuff. Some of it will be riding as a group, some will be 2 up and the rest on my own.

General plan is arrive 2nd June in Santander, ride around the Pyrenees and Picos for 4 to 5 days and then make my way to Lisbon then South all the way if time allows. Last rode there back around 8 years ago and was blown away by the Pyrenees and Picos but winged my route planning and 'wasted' quite a lot of time.

Don't mind getting lost but don't want a rush back to the Ferry! So this time will be carrying a Garmin GPS, Spain & Portugal Michelin Map and following some sort of route which avoids Cities (other than Lisbon where I am to meet a friend) and takes in Mountains, rivers, the remote stuff.

Any suggestions welcome. if you had 3 weeks where would you go please? Thanks so much.

There is a similar thread below.

If you want to ride in the Pyrenees. than you have probably used up most of your time. And it should be to much rush to also do Portugal.
Portugal N2: see thread below. At least 3 days one way
Portugal ACT (trail): Estimated 5 days
=> around 10 days to do Portugal down and up again.

Pyrenees and Basque are nice. And should be enough. with some time also to enjoy France on the way down.

Have a look at the TET website.
Also check out 4x4 routes down through Aragon which are suitable for big bikes and 2 up.
It’s possible to travel the whole way down Portugal off road.

Once off the coast, Spain and Portugal are very sparsely populated and mountainous so perfect for what you want.
Enjoy bier

Many thanks for your tips and links guys!

I think you are right the Pyrenees is big enough and can easily spend 3 weeks there 'TET'n it and nipping into France for some wine and baguettes. I'll concentrate on the North and perhaps crunch some miles down to Lisbon and back but squeezing in the rest is probably a bit much given schedules. One day i'll get down to the bottom but rather savour the journey than iron butt hundreds of miles a day. Done that before - not this time thanks!

Cheers all bier

Not just the TET, Spain never had an enclosures act like the UK, there's a myriad of legal unpaved roads all over the place - for a little fun my other half has taken to pointing to a place in the distance and just heading in that rough direction using whatever trail is around, lol

Have a look at Wikiloc if you want to see alternative loops etc when you're there :)

Never heard of Wikiloc till now - awesome thanks for the tip. The method your other half takes when choosing where to head is what I have generally adopted - if all else fails will do the same!
