South America completed, Central next - where to stay?
Hi you all!
I´m Mike from Denmark trying to complete the Americas. Started in Santiago de Chile 4,5 month ago and have now arrived in Panama after 15.000 km on the road. Heading for Costa Rica Friday the 7th of March. Any biker friendly hostels, hotels, campsites or houses heading north to through Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize, Mexico, US and Canada (Pacific side)? I do a video diary and have about 30 videos uploaded now. Check out: www.race2aid.org Or search for "Mikkel Thomsen" on Facebook for pictures. Keep on riding in the free world Mikkel |
Hejsa
Jeg har lige vaeret igennem Mellem Amerika og der er nogle gode steder imellem. Det er dog meget anderledes end Syd Amerika. Naa men tilbage til engelsk... Many people enjoy Bocas Del Toro, in Panama, near the Costa Rican border. Should be easy to find accomodation. I personally didn't like Costa Rica (very touristy) so I drove through it in two days. Nicaragua has two hot spots in the form of Leon and Granada. The Bearded Monkey in Granada seems popular Cafe Vida (?) is popular in Leon. Managua is a hole. Honduras is boring and I advice you to drive through. Guatemala is very cool, and places like San Pedro La Laguna and Quetzaltenango were very enjoyable. In Quetzaltenango I liked Hostal Don Diego, In Mexico I advice you to stay to the mainland and the carribean coast. I drove the Pacific coast down and it is a waste of time compared to the rest. Baja is touristy and the ferry from the mainland to La Paz is more than 200$! Accomodation is easy to find, so don't worry. I didn't see any biker "must stays" in CA, but maybe others have input here. God rejse og pas paa asfalten, den slaar haardt! |
Your Welcome in Mex City
If you come to Mex City, which is a great place to see, you are welcome to stay with us. Just email me before and we can work it out. I normally meet people outside the city and guide them in.

Hej Peter
1000 tak ;-) Thanks a lot. Just spend two days in Boca del Tora nice place for a sun burn, but the tour are quite bad value. If you wanna go snorkling or island hopping its better find a couple of people and share a boat. About $80 for a full day with captain... By the way there two shitty and very scary bridges from Boca to the Costa Rican border. But there´s no way around them. Take care! Mike - Race2aid.org Quote:
