SF, CA to Puerto Vallarta and back
 

Hello, My good friends are getting married in Bucerias, just north of Puerto Vallarta on Jan 16th, 2016.

I have decided it would be way more fun to ride down than fly...

Looking for some trip planning advice.

I have the US leg figured out. I am leaving SF on Jan 7th ride to Santa Monica, attend a work meeting on the 8th. Ride to Tucson area to see a friend on the 9th. Cross over the border at Nogales on the 10th.

Need to be in Bucerias on Jan 14th.

Looking for some route idea, places to stay, places to avoid.

Cannot decide if I need to reserve places to stay along the way or just wing it. I am up for camping, but not sure if that's the best.

On the way back thinking a ferry across to La Paz and come back up Baja through San Diego.

Any help would be appreciated.
