Saudi Arabia crossing

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a ferry from Port Sudan to Jeddah and then drive up through Saudi to Jordan?

We just had our visas refused to go from Doha to Abu Dhabi specifically as we asked for bike visas, we are trying again, but be warned, the Saudis dont realy want you in their country, esspecially not if you're on your own and on a bike, Rob

I was told by the KSA Embassy in Muscat it was not possible for an expat (non GCC Arab seems a better definition) to get a Transit visa as "motorbikes are used by terrorists".

If you can get a solution I would be very interested in hearing - else it looks like Iran and that mean CDP expenses.

Saudi offer three types of visas:

1) Work Visa: Issued by your employer in saudi to allow you into saudi to work for them.

2) Pillgram Visa: for Haj season, those who are muslim and wish to visit the two holy mosques apply for this, its only valid for 3 months if memory serves.

3) Visit Visa: if you have family, friend, or a connection in saudi who you can use as a reason to visit saudi then this visa is for you.

In your case you will need option 3, i know this guy in saudi who sold visit visas for about 2k pounds a pop, ill see if he's still around.

Basicaly to get into saudi as a non saudi you need a saudi sponsor of some sort, someone who will take responsibilty for you if you do any dodgy stuff while you are there :)

Seems un-necessary..... and downright pointless.

Can Qatar citizens ride through ? I suspect they can.
