Road from North India to Nepal during monsoon!

Hello!
I have few questions about my route from Ladakh to Nepal next summer!
Does someone has already ride from Manali to Katmandou in the middle of august?
I'm looking for infos about the road and the monsoon!
Does all roads are open?
And do you have any opinion about borders?
Which one is the quickest, better... between India and Nepal (from Manali)

If riding during the monsoon is not so "hard":rain:, I would like to go from Manali to Agra, Lucknow and Katmandu. Does anyone have nice places to stay on this route?

If I don't have time enought to go to Agra, does the road Manali/Bhimdatta/Katmandu is ok?

By the way, what's the weather like in Katmandu from the 20 to 30 august generally?

If you have any tips, feel free to tell!
Thank you!
Virginie

Hello.
The road is practicable in Ladakh my friends did it in Royal enfield from 20 July to 3 August with Vintage Rides.
In Nepal it is raining.
Good preparation.

Hello!
Yes I know I can ride in Ladakh in summer :mchappy: but my question was more about the road from Manali to KTM (because of the monsoon, which one is the "easiest")
But I've find my route now, thank you!
Good prepa

would you mind to share which route you decided to take?

CasperOntherOad 9 Mar 2017 13:24

Sure!
Do you want my all route (From France to KTM) or just from Manali to Katmandou?
I give you that one! :)
My plan is to go from Manali to Chandigarh > Sitarganj and then ride to a nepali border (don't know yet which one) but I will ask to local people to decide what is the better road. But I will certainly enter in Nepal from Bhimdatta (or Siddharthanagar).
Then, I'll ride to Bhâratpur, in Chitwan parc. If I have some time left, I will ride to Pokhara then Katmandou...
I still have to check infos about fuel station on the differents roads...
Have you been there before?

Thanks!
I was referring exactly to this part of your trip.
I have been to India/Ladakh and to Nepal, but in different trips.
This coming summer I am supposed to cross India and enter Nepal, that's why I was curious :-)

Great!! :) And do you have already a plan?
Did you ride in the Farwest and Midwest region of Nepal?
Or generally, did you find fuel easily in Nepal?

crisidsto 9 Mar 2017 13:55

Depending on how much time I will have left, I think I will cross India pretty fast and will enter Nepal in Bhimdatta too, then visit Bardia National Park (if possible) and continue to Kathmandu.

I never been in the western part of the country, but generally I remember fuel not being a problem. I was riding a rented Royal Enfield 350. This time I will have my bike with big tank..

There is my report here, in the ride tales section of this forum ;-)
