Return via Trans Siberian Railway

Does anyone have any experience with the Trans Siberian Railway? I would like to know if you can get on the train with your motorcycle near Lake Baikal and return to Moscow. Looking at routes for 2021.

There are several threads on this topic on this forum. Try a search.

Russian Railways now has car-carrier wagons and officially accepts motorcycles, but not on all routes: https://pass.rzd.ru/static/public/ru?STRUCTURE_ID=5226 (use Google Translate).

None of the existing routes go anywhere near Baikal, though.

Came upon a thread that quotes Russian Railways rules about motorcycles as cargo, says it's possible if crated, but the motorcycle has to be no more than 165kg in weight. In practice, depends heavily on your freight agent's personal connections, I'm sure.

https://www.rusmototravel.ru/article...ocikl-v-kanadu - also only in Russian, but gives rough costs. Moto shipping Moscow to Irkutsk for ~150eur at the current exchange rate.

I should mention that I've shipped my moto in Russia via truck several times, with this company, which has an English website:
https://eng.pecom.ru/

Generally took 7-11 days from Moscow to Siberia or further. I used them probably about 6 times, never had any problem. The main hassle is having to drain the tank before shipping...they will handle crating. I forget how much it cost, but it wasn't very expensive.

Obviously, you can't travel with the bike and will need to make other travel arrangements to Moscow, but to me that is a plus, because it would give you more time to explore Moscow while your bike it making its way there.
