Place to stay - French/Spanish border (West)
 

How do!

In 2 weeks time, a couple of us will be riding down to towards Gibraltar, and we're looking for any useful info regarding places to stay around the west of the French-Spainish border.

Can anyone recommend any biker friendly places that you've used before?

Any help is appreciated.

I have stayed at Ascarat, there is a campsite there, it is quiet and family oriented. All amenities including swimming pool.
This is a village close to St Jean pied de port which is just a few miles from the crossing into Spain at Arneguy on the road to Pamplona. All good biking roads.

Note: as you get into the square in the centre of St Jean you need to hang a hairpin right to get onto the Spanish road. There are all shops, petrol and hotels in St Jean.

I went this way because you need to get off the A10 at junction 10 to avoid paying toll charges. Go onto the d12 to Urt then through hasperran and Cambo les Bains onto the d918 towards St jean. You will see the campsite on your right as you come around a bend. It is all a nice ride, with little traffic.
