Parking the Bike in North America

Hi guys,
my name is Gionata Nencini and I have been on the road for 8 years. I got to Mexico today from the south (Belize) and this country seems to be bigger than I thought and also able to offer great rides which will take time.

My available time to ride ends around mid April and I would like to try somethings I've never done before:

PARK THE BIKE EITHER IN THE US OR CANADA AND FLY OUT TO SPEND THE WINTER SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Does anybody here know what is the best way to do this?

Are the US better than Canada for the bike to be left behind for several months?

Which are the limits of time I can stay away from the bike?

I will greatly appreciate any experienced comment and tips about this topic as I think is not worthed shipping the bike to Europe and back to then catch the summer in north America.

Cheers everyone.

Gionata

You can leave you bike at my place in Oklahoma for as long as you need. A friend from New Zealand who I met in Colombia left his bike here last year to go home to work the summer months at home. He should be coming back in another month or two to start up his trip to Alaska.

I should mention that by the time April hits Springtime in the lower 48 is underway except in the highest parts of the country. Snow covers many of the off road passes in Rockies until mid summer.

I don't have a clue on restrictions, but I think they are more related to your passport stay rather than the motorbike stay, most important is for you to have insurance for your motorbike whenever it is used on the road, not needed during the months of storage.

Two places I highly recommend seeing in Mexico are Xilitila to the Northeast of DF and Copper Canyon. Cross the border at Presidio, TX and shoot up through Dallas.Ft Worth on your way to my place to store your bike.

Love helping travelers out.
