Northern India in 3 months (May to August)

Hi guys! I'm trying to plan my route in India between May-Aug. I only have a 3 months visa and already have my flight for 4th May from Turkey to New Delhi.

:funmeteryes:

I'll need a few days first to get my bike and equipment but I hope to get it quickly (any recommendation about places to buy things will be really appreciated!)

About the route, my original idea was travel a lot more around India but with only 3 months (less the time that I'll need to buy and sell the bike) I think that I'll be only able to visit only one area of this beautiful country.

Some of the places that I want to go are: Leh, Manali, Agra, Jaipur and also want to go to Nepal. Do you think that I'll have enough time?

Which do you think that can be the best itinerary? Any specific advice? Experiences with the weather in this dates? :rain:

Thanks in advance!!!
Ramiro

Can't help you a lot with where to shop around since I traveled there on my own bike.
Also I think a lot of people buy a bike in India through a middle man but again I have no experience in this matter.

Weather:
- You should check out when the monsoon starts, I guess around end of May, June and what areas it affects.

As for locations:
- You'll be cooking in Jaipur :D
Personally I liked Udaipur more but that's a matter of taste.
- Manali, great place :thumbup1: some good climbing spots aswell if you're into that.
- Leh, awesome stunning place but expect the roads to be quite shitty at times, but that's part of the fun ofcourse.
You can easily spend more than a month riding around there.
- Agra, it's close to Delhi and wouldn't take you a lot of time.
- Nepal, should well possible within 3 months but don't know how easy and what paperwork you need to get through the indian side of the border so you should look that up. As soon as you get onto the Nepali side nobody cares about the bike. Just be friendly and wave when you pass a checkpoint, usually they won't stop you.

All in all I think you should be fine with 3 months if the buying/selling of the bike doesn't take a lot of time.

Thanks you very much for your answer Sol Revelations! My idea is buy the bike :scooter: to a dealer in Delhi and try to get a deal where he buy me the bike again when I finish the trip.

Regarding to the route, I was thinking about going to Leh and Nepal mostly, but I don't know how long it will take me to go to both places. If its possible I want to go to Agra too. Have you been in Leh? Any recommendations and must-see places?

Thanks in advance!
Ramiro

Check your visa if you already have one as they usually start from date of issue not date of arrival, just bear that in mind when planning your trip.

Hi Mark! Thanks for the advice, I still need to apply for the visa in Istanbul like in ten days. All the process is being really hard, but I'm not in Argentina so that makes everything more complex for me. Thanks!

I've been to Leh, but not by bike.
During that time my bike needed repairs and the roads weren't open due to the season.

So basically I flew there and did a 10 day trek so sadly I can't really recommend anything except that the region is gorgeous :)

Thank you very much :) Yesterday I met a guy from India here in Pamukkale and he also told me that the Leh area is beautiful. I'm so excited about arriving to India, but my flight is not until the 4th of May haha
