North Africa Trip
Hello All,
Next year I am looking to travel from the UK through France and Spain to Morocco. Ride through Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia and get the ferry across to Italy where I will slowly make my way through Europe on the way home. Does anyone have any advice for me, in particular what paperwork I will need for Morocco/Algeria/Tunisia and how safe travel/border crossings are there for me and my partner. I would also love to hear from other people that have done this trip in the past. Many thanks. Richard |
Hi Richard; this type of trip has been much discussed on HU for a long time.
If you do some research on HU you will find what you want to know, especially the situation about entering/not entering Algeria. In relation to wishing to enter Algeria, you might also want to catch up with current events like Viva Palestina.com which may fill in the gaps re: border crossings/no crossings there. |
Hi,
As a clue, the only thing that has crossed the Morocco-Algeria border in the last two decades was the Gaza Aid convoy last year. You can get a ferry from Morroco to Spain then Spain to Algeria or you can plod the long way down through Morocco/Mauri/Mali/Niger(?)/Algeria -- effectively crossing the Sahara twice (one of them not being along the coast). As Caminando says, there's plenty of info here on the HUBB. Cheers, Ian |
