Need help to made a final decision

Hello we are 2 young guys from Denmark who is on our first big trip. Right now we are in ulaanbaatar, and our plan was to go to russia then to vladivostok. Find a ferry to japan. Stay a month in japan and then to Australia. But because of the flood in amur and the fact that it startet to be cold, we have talked about another way.

We talked about going to india stay there for some time and then go to Australia. But we don't know much about shipping and India. Is it even possible and how. Anything to be concerned of? And is it possible to pick up visa in the airport.

Or do anyone know a route there would be better?

We only have 6 days left on our Mongolian visa so hope you will answer fast.

You want to take your vehicle to India or not? A bike? A car? The vehicles will need a carnet.

Shipping to India could be possible, but expect it to be quite a hassle even in the best case scenario. I once shipped by air out of Chennai.

And overland-routes go to Pakistan, then India (around Afghanistan via east or west). For east, you would need to get the vehicles into China, another major headache, and costly. Dunno if it would even be possible on a short notice, you´d have to ask the tour operators there. Plus it´s a high mountain route you would ride/drive through, probably getting very chilly already. For me, just generally sounds tough to do that now.

Your foreign ministry´s webpages should have information about your visa requirements for different countries.

yes as pecha72 said you do need a carnet and it can be a frustrating quest
you cannot get a visa on arrival in india it can take a few days to a week to process,so you have your work cut out for you, your next headache is china.....and thats a no go as you probably already know.

Air freight to Kathmandu would probably be an easier option but you still need Carnet & visa. Alternatively you could fly to Bangkok & do SEA....

Nepal visas are issued on arrival at the KTM airport, for most nationalities - the validity is fairly short; they are designed for tourists basically.
