Morroco for 1 week in February

Hello adventurers, in february me and my girlfriend will be renting a xt660r in Marrakesh, for 6 days, to cruise a little through Morroco. So now I would like to ask you which are the roads and sightseeings we dont want to miss? Which are some light enduro trails in high or anti atlas we could manage 2up, if there will be no snow, of course. Where are the nearest dunes of sahara? Zagora? So if you have any reccomendations where to ride please tell me. Thanks in advance!

The Sahara is a long way south in Western Sahara and Algeria, but there are non-Saharan sand dunes in Morocco, primarily in the area of Erg Chigaga (90km or so south of Zagora) and Erg Chebbi (Merzouga). Both destinations involve crossing the High Atlas and are two days ride from Marrakech.

With altitude comes cold, and whilst Marrakech is currently showing mid day highs of 19-20ºC, at 2500m the highs are only 4-5ºC, so you don't want to be spending too much time at altitude.

Hi There!
Just to warn you, don't expect to ride the dunes 2up on a XT660R... The bike is too heavy to ride dunes, even if alone. It can manage the fech fech pistes if you're experienced, but it get really physical and require standing on the pegs... so 2up on a bike will limit access in a few areas, and your girlfriend will hate you for this :innocent:

Nevertheless, you can surely find plenty of pretty road and tracks to enjoy !
I would personnaly go to Ouarzazate then to Foum El oued via P1507 (a rocky piste crossing the mountains, if I remember well) and R111 and then take the N12 maybe westbound to try and see erg Chigaga south of Zagora.

I've been there only once, so I'll leave the Morocco Gurus correct me if I'm wrong ! ;-)
