other thing to be aware of in france, unless your map & satnav info are very recent you'll find that a lot of the "N" roads (Route Nationale) no longer exist... well the road does, but it's called the D 123 (or xyz or whatever) because they've de nationalised them all last year. For example the RN6 that runs past my front door, linking Paris to Lyon, is now called tha D966... Where I am, & it's number changes in each departement that it goes through. |

Micheling Map of France
Hi
I have just purchased the France 2009 map (721) - so it is out there Nigel |
map
So did I :-)
Not sure to use that or use my sat nav ? |
Well, I'm off to France again tomorrow (by car sadly!) and the sat nav will be stuck on the windscreen navigating us to the overnight stop in the depths of Lille. The Michelin map will be in the car somewhere but I'll only use it in the hotel to decide which scenic route south I'll programme into the sat nav for the next day.
The software can calculate how long any particular route will take and I've found it pretty accurate. It better be - we need to be in Grenoble on Saturday evening before the LeClerc supermarket in Echirolles closes or we're going hungry. |
