Looking for advices: Spain - Turkey (and more...)

Hi everybody! This is my first time here, so I hope not to be wrong. I suppose that I can ask for advices here, isn´t it? I am not a great traveler, so I need some help. I´m going to do my first long travel alone, actually.
Are there anybody here from Turkey? I will travel to Turkey in a few days, and I would like to ask some questions. I will ride my bike from Spain to Istambul. I'm meeting my wife in Istanbul. I travel by motorbike and she will fly. We will spend a week in Istanbul and we want to visit Cappadocia and ballooning (yes, very tourist hahaha!). I have read that there are cheap flights from Istanbul, but coming out of Sabiha Gökçen airport and the connection with the city is not good. We plan to be in a hotel in Istanbul (I still do not know which one), leave my bike (and most of the luggage) in the hotel car park, go by public transport to the airport, visit Cappadocia, and return the same way. Is this possible? Any advice?
When my wife to fly back to Spain, I want to continue the journey. I want to visit eastern Turkey (Mount Ararat ...) and then, maybe Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, if it is possible. Any advice, route ...?
Thank you very much for your time and your very estimable advice.
Best regards

Hi Miguel

Welcome

I recently travelled through Turkey into Georgia.
In fact I'm still in Georgia at the moment

I crossed the black sea coast from Amasra (lovely little seaside town) to the Georgian border in 3 days... although I was doing a few miles each day...
and entered Georgia at Batumi The crossing is simple (no visa requirement in Georgia for me)

Multiple document checks into and out of Turkey.. My passport and vehicle documents were checked 4 times by different people. But its no big hassle

I dont know if you have the green card insurance scheme in Spain, but if you do it will save you some time at the border - although you can buy insurance for Turkey at the border.

Georgia has no requirements in that area!

Tbilisi old town (eastern edge of the city) is great.. Traffic is heavy, but be confident and its not a problem

If you are planning to go top Azerbaijan DO NOT GO TO ARMENIA.. you will not get into Azerbaijan afterwards.. |They are still technically at war over border disputes.

I cant comment on your other questions , but maybe other can

Good luck in your travels..

Hi Mark!
Thank you for answer! You are having a great travel!
I thought visa is needed to get into Georgia. I will check it.

If I finally can travel to Georgia, I want do it across the Black Sea coast, as you said

I have the green card insurance, so there should be no problem in Turkey. I do not know about insurance in Georgia, I suppose I will need to buy insurance there, right?

Thank you for your advise about Azerbaijan. Is it possible travel firstly to Azerbaijan and get into Armenia afterwards? Or have I to choose between both countries?

Good luck and enjoy your travel!

There is no requirement to buy insurance for Georgia
Just be good :innocent:

And i cant comment on Armenia's feelings toward travellers who have visited Azerbaijan.. Maybe they are a bit more relaxed about it ?? dunno

please be careful of the speed camera because the motorbike speed limit is 55 miles per hour, and the first 2 days for me in turkey( UK to Turkey) I was fined 3 times and had to pay 250 euro (total) . be careful of police with camera (hand held) who will radio to another police car to stop you.

Just to make a point that even if a particular country does not enforce the purchase of insurance at the border, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't have it. Some of those same countries have a good way of sorting out accident participants who don't have insurance. They put them in prison. Mexico is one such country.

Few blogs I've read about travellers driving into Georgia in a car, they all purchased insurance.
