London to Durban, SA - Western Route
Hi Guys
after much begging, pleading and loads of chores, i finalyy!!! got my wife to agree to let me go on a 3 month overland trip from London to Durban in South africa. the plan is to leave in October 2010, plenty of time to plan. any help with the following will be appreciated: i am a novice rider and recently bought a Honda CRF230F, will be spending loads of time in the saddle, i am currentlt looking out for a KTM640 adventure, my bike of choice for the trip. i would like to use the western route via the Sahara, although i am keen on exploring, i will be riding solo and want the easiest route. is the highway(tar road) through the sahara complete? and how far will it take me, will there be any dune riding at all, due to my experience i am extremely anxious about this part of the trip Looking forward tou your comments |

Note that most people will tell you three months isn't long enough. I think they're probably correct, unless everything (everything) goes right along the way. Which it tends not to do. Good luck. Mark |
Did that exact trip 2008
hey Muffin1.
I did the london DBN trip early 2008, west coast. I can give you a few bits of advice if you need. The best way is over a beer or two but I think you are in Durban. I am in London so I guess you will just have to put the questions on the net. Check out the first video below. I do think 4 months is the minimum time for west coast.! I also think the ktm 640 is the best bike on the planet! Good luck Orrin (bluff/glenwood boy) |
