libya in summer

Hello!

This year I'm thinking of a trip to Libya and egypt. Last year I went round the black sea south thrue turkey and by ferry from Poti to Odessa. Nice trip with lots of different cultures.

My next idea is form france by boat to Tunis and then overland to Libya and egypt. Then by boat to italy and back home. This is a rough idea of coarse.

Is it a plain silly idea to drive a motorbike in summer to Cairo or is it possible?
My concern is the heat, does one of you guys have experience?

I have something like 2 months/6 weeks and leaving from the Netherlands (take the ferry in marseille)

Thanks!

Guus

Dear Guus,

We've been traveling through Tunisia crossing Libya into Egypt in 2008. We drove all the way down to Palermo (Sicily) and took the Ferry. We traveled through these countries in May and June and it was incredibly hot. Our trip was by 4x4 (No airconditioning ;). If you want more information about a guide through Libya or anything else, don't hesitate to ask. You can also send me an e-mail or PM.
